The former Gold Coast captain had limited impact in 2019. He was underdone early and missed matches due to injury and through suspension and managed only eight games in his debut season with the club. When he was up and about however, he showed some encouraging glimpses of what he can bring to the club when injury-free and with a full preseason under his belt.

As long as he turns up to Pre-Season super fit and at the correct weight this time I won't have an issue.

I don't mind him having a sneaky beer...just not like how he got caught out this year. Have a quiet beer celebrating a win not while injured with the team struggling. It wasn't a good look. However, I think he has learnt his lesson.

I can't help but like Steven May. He shows passion and care. Particularly after that interesting argument/discussion with fellow Demons defender Sam Frost during one of the games.

He is a former Captain at the Suns and can be a leader at the Demons. But actions will speak louder than words.

He needs to keep super fit and hopefully have better luck with injuries in 2020.

I wish Steven May all the best in 2020 and hope he has a wonderful year both on and off the field. Both the club and Steven May deserve success but they need to work hard to earn it.

If Steven May can get fit, and stay fit and on the field, he will be worth something near what we paid for him.  He's a long way behind the ledger right now.

He’s clearly an elite player. Maybe he had some adjustment to moving thousands of kilometers and so did his relationship. Who wouldn’t?

He’ll be great next year.

The first quarter against Collingwood (second game) was top shelf. If he stays fit and plays that next year we'll get good value.

we saw little bursts of how good he can be for us, we just need him to turn up to pre season in great shape, have a complete pre season and hit the season hard, injury free, i'm confident he will, and if he does i'm confident he will have an All Australian standard season

Give him responsibilities. Put him in the Leadership Group with Max

for the Team not to be ready last Christmas cannot happen again. It’s not as if we lost a close one to The Eagles.

I will never understand how this Club always gets ahead of itself....

Yes Steve He is one I am really looking forward to see playing next year and smashing some forwards.

Will be an absolute gun defender and one that I think can really add to the leadership group. From that article in The Age this year it seemed like he was in a pretty rough spot but expect him to bounce back big time next year.

his season was an absolute disgrace and he has a lot to make up for after the way he was clearly not ready for the pressure placed upon him in the melbourne football bubble

tbh i was a bit disappointed we went for him rather than going to the draft with pick 6 - i never really rated him as a footballer as he seems a touch undersized for a modern key position defender at just 193cm, when a lot of the big key forwards these days are TALL

that said, he is clearly a super talent and i'm really hoping i'm wrong and he has a big 2020 and beyond

Needs a HUGE summer. King is right, he will be under immense pressure next year if his body doesn't hold up.

Yes I'm with most on May.....super talent but I hope he doesn't do what Jordan Lewis kept doing, that's getting reported. Sprooking about his leadership qualities & then letting his team mates down continually.

Work your [censored] off son.......you need to be cherry ripe at round 1.

Will be a good player in 2020. No problems there. The question is was the investment a good one.

    TRAINING: Monday 16th December 2024

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
