Thatโ€™s just talk to get his price up

If I am Frost, I am asking for a big pay-rise seeing that Toothpicks Lever and Maysie are soaking up in excess of 1.6mil.

Lever 850k that cost 2 first rounders?  What a joke.

Gold Coast will be laughing at us soon.

Frost definitely improved this year and was certainly top 10, maybe even top 5, but we finished 17th. Anyone saying they'd be shattered or what have you, if he left, has completely lost touch with reality.

He still gives up almost as many goals as he saves.

If Sam wants a better offer and we can get a more solid best 22 player in, pull the trigger.

My take exactly.

His turovers are too damaging. They would not be such an issue if lever  hibberd and hore were not also turnover merchants (albeit not in frosty's league). But they are.

Can't keep them all sometimes... If he goes he goes, sure he has x factor and has improved however I think we have seen the best of frost which is a relatively inconsistent player which does 3 or 4 nice things a game but 3 or 4 wtf moments.

Lever is usually a very reliable kick. Maybe not so much this year, but as a rule... otherwise, I obviously concur mate.

His 2 or 3 great moments are always overshadowed by his brain farts At crucial stages of the game. Ultimately, he is a liability

All this teeth gnashing over Frosty.  I would wish him well if he goes, and take the second rounder or player, use the cap space for someone that improves us, and smile and wave.

i can remember so many gameday threads, Joeboy three worders and post match discussions where dl posters were pulling their hair out over this guy.  He tours Hawthorn and all of a sudden he is Jesus Christ with a turbo.  Loss aversion bias at work. Lets see what we get, and hopefully it is fair for all.

Why would Frost need to tour Hawthorn's facilities? Wouldn't they just say "we have them and your club doesn't".

I will be absolutely devastated if Frosty leaves, must be a reason why the club have let his contract run down($$$$$).

I can imagine his contract was in the lower scale and wasn't a priority going forward, unbelievable really, he's was our best defender this year.

Maybe they were showing him the plans for their Dingley base?

It will be yet another disappointing facet to this season if Frost now leaves the club.

He single-handedly won us one match this year, and generally provided some much needed spark to the team throughout the year.

A much improved player with apparent upside as he becomes more experienced.

Totally agree Cell. Whilst his runs were entertaining and 'Frostball' edge-of-you-seat stuff, few of them actually resulted in goals (though the blame cannot be placed only on him because of this), however his turnovers at numerous times directly did result in goals against us.

I figure the club believes should Frosty leave (and we bring worthy replacements), as a team we'd end up conceding fewer goals.

Goodwin, Taylor and Bartlett should tour Waverley.  Iโ€™ll pay for their Uber.

He probably figures that it's all fish, why pay for bluefin tuna when you can eat carp and save some $'s?

He probably favours porterhouse steak over ribeye too.

Here is a challenge for you, please go back through the footage for the season and actually tally the fores and against. You might then be able to substantiate your assertions.

I go every week mate, but I also work a very busy job, so I don't think I'll be doing that. But perhaps you could, if you want to dispute it.

Well it's not like the FD forgot that he was out of contract. If it's true they low balled an offer, than its a calculated move. Every player is an opportunity and an opportunity cost. Could be we think the compansation/salary cap affords us something else we have in mind - another player (there is a few possibly available ) while Joel Smith Hore or Petty step into the back 6/7.

How about we trade for hawks/nth first pick in exchange for frost and one of the split picks?

The turnover was one thing, but that's not what's stopping Frosty being an excellent player. Smart players with poor skills can just dial back the difficulty and be very handy. Dylan Grimes is a perfect example of the kind of ball user Frosty could be.

The thing that this clip really highlights is Frost's lack of game sense. He lets Kennedy go up to the contest for a 2 on 1, not helping Hore at all, then isn't mentally quick enough to cut the angle down and tackle Petrucelle before he gets by him. Luckily he has great effort and speed to run him down but a smarter defender would've made a better play earlier.

I wish someone would post the 'out on the full' kick he made after this tackle.

It's a much more accurate representation of what he offers the team.

Or the torpedo punts into the centre square from full back

Or round 23 when he destroyed Brown

Or the run and 2 handballs and one kick to setup a goal v Freo

Frosty was one of the very few bright lights in 2019

ridiculous to low ball any contract offer

Yes he is far from perfect but one of the very few players who actually improved their performances this year when most went backwards. He has been improving year on year for the past 3 years, learning to play to his strengths and limiting his weaknesses, eg limiting his kicks to 25m passes on the run out of defence most times. I believe he is still improving!

Oh and we are screaming out for leg speed, so letโ€™s move him on. I donโ€™t get it.

The well known Frost haters have climbed out from under their rock with this news. They had gone to ground over the last 20 weeks based on Frostyโ€™s performances which will see him B & F top 5 whilst highly paid others have been a total flop.

One thing that must be realised is that the greatest footy club with the greatest coach in the history of the game are courting him.  Also hear the Roos are also.

Not sure Iโ€™d be coming out from under my rock.

Would love Frosty to stay. Yes his disposal at times is a concern, if we had some more class around him this wouldnโ€™t be such an issue. I often wonder where our salary cap goes looking at our list we must have a few players cleaning up.

MFC .... B graders paradise.
Just ask Jonesy.

And Frost reminds me of Tmac when he was down back.
Sometimes good but also sometimes terrifying.

From Frostball to lowball hey. Yes, he provided excitement in a dismal season but....he was fairly costly according to the data provided by fr_ap in the below thread. Great work by the way.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

Melbourne and Hawthorn who face off against each other this week have more in common than having once almost merged and about to wear a blue jumper with a red v triangle and an embroidered picture of a bird on the front.  They also share the MCG as their main home ground, their supporters are associated with the leafy suburbs of Melbourne and in recent times, James Frawley graced the colours of both teams. Even more recently, both have bounced back from disastrous five game losing streaks to start off a season. Of course, the Hawks turned their bounce into a successful leap from the bottom of the ladder into a finals appearance, making it to the semifinals in 2024 and this year, theyโ€™re riding high in third place on the AFL table. The Demons are just three games into their 2025 bounce back, and are yet to climb their way out of the bottom four although they are sitting a game and percentage out of the top eight. However, with the current sportsbet odds of $3.90 to win this weekโ€™s encounter, it seems a forlorn hope that their upward progression will continue much longer.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckmanโ€™s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipperโ€™s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0โ€“5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
