It would be no surprise for them to miss finals next year. And every single AFL player would know that.

They had a big year, like us last year they have gone deeper than previously, which is a challenge for youngish list and they had dream run with injuries. Not much has to go wrong for them to drop off.

I was about to post the same thing.

ofc people could counter that with their list, theres no way they will miss finals next year. but most of the footy world thought the same of us at the beginning of this season.

Not sure if Brissy will be better next year (and i predicted that they would have a good year in 2019), but i feel certain that we will be.

Hawthorn's footy boss Graham Wright provides an update on Jamie Elliott, Jon Patton, Sam Frost, Issac Smith and more.

So it's not just Demonlanders who can't spell "Isaac".  It's not rocket surgery, folks!

Saving Face. No one wants to look like they've missed out on a potential recruit to Melbourne! Why that would be heresy!

No way hes getting offered 500k at the pies. I reckon thats what we have offered that over 3 years with a trigger for a 4th.

Effectively he will be taking on Jordan Lewis' Cash.

How could Elliott possibly let everyone at Collingwood know he wont be their next year while he still has to attend their BnF.

Can expect a decision next week.

That didn't worry old mate Heretier. Not sure he had the last laugh as predicted though

Not sure why Brisbane are interested, they have Cameron and Christensen so doesn't seem like a good fit there. Of course you always make room for quality but it just seems a bit odd.

Seem to remember there being talk Christensen could be gone from Brisbane this year.

Old mate Harry O obviously didn't give a rats.

Jack Crisp just asked whether he thinks Elliott will stay l, on channel 10 news.

Paused for a moment, then answered “yeah I think he will stay” then added that’s obviously the only answer he can give, before ending with “I hope he stays”.

Hawks Officially Out. Trade Talks with Frost have just commenced as well.

Huh?! But isn’t Clarke in charge of everything at Hawks?!

Relevant here.

Exactly. They’re in for a world of pain with the huge contracts coming up next year. They need to clear room or lose a top 5 player essentially. Grundy, DeGoey, Moore. Clear others out now or you lose them next year.

And as I said earlier, they’ve got an abundance of medium and small forwards, so Elliott is the perfect one to let go to free up coin without being impacted too heavily.

so...............................Crisp may be gettable next year due to the devastation of possibly losing Elliott this year. Good to know!

Looks like he's staying.

Who do we turn our attention to now?

"Insiders at Pies confident "

Are they ever anything else.

How could any Collingwood desired player ever wish to leave the bosom of the magpie nest for an also ran such as MFC.

Play regularly before crowds of 70k plus diehard fans or go to the Alice and play a home game before a 10k crowd of which 60% or more barrack for the away team.

Looks like Collingwood went for broke with the salary cap over the last 2-3 years in the hope of snagging a flag and then a core of players recommitting based on that success. If you don't get that success, you're in trouble.

And Demonlanders bang on about our cap. I wonder what Collingwood supporters think (yeah, I know, not much).

Improve the list, get fit, better draw, win games and the crowds will come.

In 2018 our avg home attendances was only 10,000 less than Collingwood's: 50k vs 40k. And we played less home games at the G than the Pies.

It's starting to look that way, but I think if he was staying with the Pies the contract would've been signed in that meeting. If we don't hear anything tonight I reckon he's outta there.

I reckon we'll land him. If what Barrett is saying is true RE: Collingwood's cap, they won't be able to compete with our offer.

Agree that Collingwood can't beat the offer. I'm worried Elliott may have caved when he finally thought he was really going to be leaving the Pies.

Or when he was offered a co host position on Getaway, after retirement.

A Collingwood mate of mine is positive it will be announced at the Copeland tonight. He’s usually got good mail but has been wrong. Take with a grain of salt.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
