The 7Mate trade show just discussed this.  They said we look like a chance, but the Hawks are sniffing around and they are really good at getting their target if they show a genuine interest.

7 also had Norf jumping in on the act.

Norf are desperate to land a RFA. 7 years at 900k a year will be hard to beat.

Whaaat?

7 years x 900 for Elliot? He's 27!

Cray cray

Just on trade radio, said the dee's and nurf are wanting Elliott.

Nothing at all about the dorks

Is it just me or does it feel like everyone (including media) has NFI where he'll end up? One day it's Melbourne, the next Hawks, the next North, then Staying at Collingwood. After that, going to Melbourne again. It's an f'ing merry go round!

Only mention of Hawthorn was from Derwayne. Surprised he didn't have him going to Geelong or Port.

I think the ‘journos’ scour social media, including Bigfooty. A couple of days ago before there was any talk in the media about Norf being interested in Elliott, their supporters on Bigfooty were suggesting they should try and get him. A day later, the media are reporting Norf are interested, they just didn’t mention it was Norf supporters.

Robbo made mention on 360 a few weeks ago that the most popular articles are about trades. So they are know it's what people want to read.

Player managers are not known for being completely honest with the meeja. Or clubs. A guessing game leads to higher prices.

You know a player's moved when you see them in the new jumper. Until then it's all guesswork for the unwashed masses.

For some reason I still think he will stay with the Pies as they will be able to squeeze him in. I would love him in a demons jumper though, does know how to find the goals on a regular basis.

The pies really don't need him. He wouldn't be a priority signing for them.

They have an abundance of similar type players in DeGoey, Stephenson, Mihocek, Thomas, Maine and Hoskin-Elliott.

Short update on Elliott from the Herald Sun:

Melbourne offered small forward Jamie Elliott a multi-year deal earlier in the year as he battled injury issues.

But it is less optimistic it will secure him given his excellent start to the year and Collingwood’s determination to keep him after 11 goals in the last four games, including two finals.

Good, would not have been money well spent

Had hope that we might habe actually had a genuine chance, but noise now seems that its either Collingwood or Hawthorn.

Enough for me to put Hawthorn as my most hated team in the AFL.

Dazzler, we have basta, as they say in Italy, crocks and semi-injured on our list already. I hate them too, but not for these reasons. They talk a lot about Hawthorn Recruiting victories. There are just as many flippy flops. E.G. Fitzpatrick, Wingard, Cheney, Paul Johnson, Vickery, Spangher, Bruce who were just so so...

How can you write off Wingard after 1 year?

He doesn't have a great history....

Don't want to argue, it's just they have basically reinvented their lists by imports of needed players. At some stage that will come a cropper....

I think he will either stay or go to the Hawks. Noise seems to be heading thay way.

I tend to agree. I think this whole thing has been driven by his management using clubs like Melbourne as the pawn to drive up the price/length of contract.

If he does go and the Dees and Hawks have similar offers he’ll choose the Hawks. We’re not a destination club if the money isn’t too good to refuse.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • GAMEDAY: West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have a chance to notch up their third consecutive win — something they haven’t done since Round 5, 2024. But to do it, they’ll need to exorcise the Demons of last year’s disastrous trip out West. Can the Dees continue their momentum, right the wrongs of that fateful clash, and take another step up the ladder on the road to redemption?
