A club still sold on Petracca’s hype and potential would cough up a pick between 8 - 18 right now. Can’t say that’ll be the case twelve months from now.

Sell while there’s still value there.

Why sell at all

Lets be real Ww are in no position to sell any inside Mids awe need to get rid of unskilled and ineffectual players under pressure that fail in every gsme.

sadly effort and skill are two different things but AFL is based on skill as it is a given that the effort is contributed by all participants.

Therefore ANB Stretchy 2 Wagners JKH Oscar and A couple of Casey  boys should make way  for new recruits from the PS draft, from trading and from strong and selective and audacious bartering on FA or the like.

Ten new players comprised of small forwards nippy and good goal sneaks, swift and pacy outside mids snd at least ONE big forward to bolster our scoring capacity should be out targets in the FD.

And his help any one who comes back on the first day of training overweight or injured (unless from pre season surgery).

Get Ready Burgo your time is near to get Trac a tank that ensures his last quarter is as good as his first and if needed in the middle he is fit and able to respond.

NoMore  talking if trading stars let's trade out the cloggers and unskilled of our 2019 class and before!

You make some good points mate. We need wholesale changes to our list that’s only getting us to 17th right now. Lazy team.

Bottom line is that there is very little chance of Gus, Trac or Viney being moved on during this trade period.   You can argue that anyone can be traded for the right price, but the club would expect a Godfather offer for any of these three and unless someone is dumb enough to do it, they won't be going anywhere.  Even if they agitate for a move, which I doubt will happen, I can't see the club moving any of these guys on unless clubs pay up big time.

I think the club will aim to get the players fit, change up the assistant coaching situation and look to remove more dead wood and add a little more class where we can.  Outside of that I can't see us doing a whole lot more for 2020.

Couldn’t agree more.  We can unleash hell in 2020 if we get fit and firing.  We have the players to win it.  Outside PACE and SMARTER inside 50 movement is the key.

We should have passed this point point prior to this trade period 58er.  We are a year behind at fine tuning/trimming the tail end of many NQRs.  That delay is impacting/restricting our ability to take the next step up and unless seriously addressed we are likely to continue to dead cat bounce.

Part of our poor performance this year stems very much from a lack of quality competition coming from underneath.

Competition for spots in the bottom 6 to 8 places at the better clubs (top 8 or so) is usually very intense, forcing the less established players to really push harder and up their game or be leap frogged by those pressing to take their place.

Pressure to retain spots very much lacking this year.  Partly a quality of list factor built in from 2018.  Add to this the never ending injuries which meant just about anyone, even those who showed a smidgen of form at Casey, were getting a call up.  To the point that in the case of some, they were getting a recall even when they hadn't truly earnt it.

In summary this list is in need of a major overhaul over the next two to three trade periods IF we are to become a regular finals contender and compete with the big boys.

What percentage of players drafted between 10 - 20 since 2000 have played over 200 games?

I wouldn’t mind betting it’s less than 33%. So some people on this thread are happy to take a less than 1 in 3 chance on a kid and trade Petracca who will play over 200 games, just crazy!

Petracca is one of the few players who improved this year, in a team that was terrible. Would be a shocking a trade for pick 10-20, or 8-18!

The most successful teams in last 15 years include Hawks, Swans, Geelong, and WC have the opposite strategy!

Big spread in the  hun re players on the move ‘whispers’.  Zero mention of Dees players.  You would think if they wanted out, or were on the way out, there would at least be a ‘whisper’...

I thought the same thing. Coincedentally i was thinking yesterday that it is remarkable how little chatter about moves to and from the dees.

We have not been leaking, which is a good sign. Compare us to say the crows.

I had a read of Hawks BF board. They’re not convinced at all. They’re just throwing up trade scenarios, as we do here.

There’s over 200 pages. It took me 1 minute to find just the below quote. No need to shoot the messenger.

Well it obviously has substance the dees are just playing hard ball as I expected. Happy to proclaim there pi**ed off with Christian publicly yet seem unwilling to compromise.”

Yep that sounds convinced ?

Don’t shoot the messenger, only discussing Petracca in the Petracca thread. Some interesting conversation around Trac going on for those who care. For those who don’t think there is substance then don’t look, is not my problem.

Not enough return IMO.

Pick 5 or a regular starter in the All Australian for Petracca.

I'm not interested in making other clubs better by trading away our assets.

And for comparisons sake, the best player in the AFL in my opinion (Dusty) averaged 24 touches and kicked 23 goals in his fourth season. Petracca averaged 19 touches and kicked 22 goals (this year) in his fourth season and probably spent less minutes on the ball than DM.

Fair enough I dont want him leaving either, but the comparison is not on the money. I remember by Dusty fouth year he was being compared to lethal Leigh. Also much more damaging possessions than petracca .

It’s primary school level stuff.

Like the level of your comprehension skills.

That quote is no different to some stuff thrown up here. Not only are they not convinced going by that quote, but there is no substance or evidence behind it.

These last few weeks have shown us that you're nothing more than a fair weather supporter. You find any way you can to attack the club and go missing when we are up and about. You're revelling in these rumours and innuendo and doing all you canto stir up trouble.

I think it's time to put you on ignore, something I should have done a while ago. I encourage everyone else to do the same so we can all enjoy our time here without reading your drivel. Cheers.

Not sure how sharing information about Trac in a Trac thread is ‘attacking’ the club.

Was simply notifying people who want to have a read as I found some interesting conversations regarding Trac on said board.

It’s been great but will enjoy not having you unnessarily quote me all the time with personal attack and accusations when you don’t agree on my opinion going forward as well. Cya mate.

Hawks fans are suggesting Smith + 11 for Trac.

Would you take it? Would give us picks 11,12,14 and Smith if we traded Trac+ pick 3

No, no and no. Still don't think Trac has fully reached his potential and was one of the big improvers for me this year. Unlike most can hit a target and his goal kicking is much better after his struggles earlier in the season. I think he'll be much better for an uninterrupted preseason and some greater fitness work under Burgess. And ss much as I like Smith and would love to get him into the club, he's almost if not already 30, compared to Trac who is 23 and still yet to crack 100 games. Even still, we'd be flipping a former no. 2 pick and this years pick 3 into 11, 12, 14 and a 30 year old player. Big yes to Smith, but at that price thats rubbish.

Gunston or Breust + 11 for Trac maybe.

Actually no, I still think Petracca has too much potential. I want to see how he goes next season before contemplating a trade.

Short answer is NO! I still believe Tracc can make the next step to elite. He has all the physical tools, it’s above the shoulders if anything. Get him super fit put him in the middle and see what happens for the next 2 years then reevaluate the situation.

I still think Trac has upside but if the Hawks offered Gunston and 11, you would take this in a heart beat

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
