So a player can be reported for contact when going for a mark? This is weaker than soccer

Loving Jones off half back. Give the man another contract.

Great entertaining game all round so far

Landed badly on his ankle. He’s back now.

Viney off now. Doesn’t look good.

He seems ok now. Christ, that was a physical half and a half. Great to see the team come off in one piece.

Lucky to be ahead at half time ...

Rubbish. We undoubtedly deserve to be ahead.

Any chance of anyone kicking the ball to Weed??

Yeah he seemed to be ok as they were walking off to the rooms at half time. He didn’t look too bothered.

Weideman needs to get involved!!

Too often goes missing for too many quarters when the going gets tough.  Tends to look/perform better when we are on top.

best game i have seen all year, the endeavour is fantastic

Has he had a touch?

Watching Hodge play for them

makes me think they got Denis Lillie and we got Jimmy Higgs

Might be a sticky taped together piece but you’re right.

they dont kick it well to him

Midfield is getting smashed today. Lucky our backline has been so good. Harmes, Oliver and Brayshaw need to get their [censored] together.

Centre clearances?

Plenty of times this year we've dominated clearances and have been smashed. Everywhere else we have been better or even with the Lions. They are absolutely butchering it and part of it is our pressure.

Neal-Bullen is important for this. Yes he can butcher it at times but he does a lot fo good work for us as well.

Jack and Max sitting with some of the other boys in a huddle in the rooms. Perhaps a good sign they're not having medical attention?

Jack Viney always looked fine. I'd be shocked if he misses the rest of this game.

We could really consolidate 16th spot if we win this!!

There is that same rushed disconnect between the middle and the forwards, at least three times we were breaking and instead of looking for the intelligent link up kick they’d bomb a high one to our forwards. It easy pickings for the lions defence.

Hopefully we can start to get on top at the bounces with Max back and their ruckman down, I hope he’s already because it looked very nasty the way he flopped onto the ground.

If there is even the slightest thought that Jacks foot has flared up then put him on the bench for the rest of the game. We really are having a wretched run of injuries this year.

We’re in front, probably shouldn’t be but how many times have we felt this way! It’s about time we got one to swing back our way!

If he has i havent seen it BBO.  Maybe a fingertip on the ball in the ruck.  He just doesn't impact enough when the game's up for grabs.  Looks like a little lost boy out there.  No aggression or attack at the ball or the ball carrier.  You cant play like that at this level as a Key Forward and  expect that your team will win more often than not.  Like playing a player down up forward.

Watts was the last player who played in a similar "choose when to go" fashion and never quite made the grade.  How long do we have to wait before he steps up and shows something ...when we need it and not when we are coasting i mean?

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
