Lever gets "bone bruising" from a match almost two weeks ago.

No reports. No news. Nothing.

Then, two days before the next game.

"Yeah nah he's injured."

I am absolutely done with this amateur club. I was already tossing up whether to waste my Saturday but I'm not going.

What embarrassing player management. But that's not even the main issue for mine. The club is treating members with contempt, and like idiots. I'm sick of it.

Totally irrelevant. This is a commentary blog for anyone to comment. It is also anonymous. Who has achieved and in what sport or other field is not revealed. By the way how many games did you play before you died of mesothelioma Steve?

One day I hope the site admin makes the decision to ban posters for rubbishing our young players as spuds.

The kid has a couple of games under his belt and is developing pretty well in my eyes.

Btw, I love the ignore function on this site.

I reckon Petracca won’t have a break out 6 goal game.

I reckon hogan will kick 7 and I’ll cry into my beer

So true, and for all those Pert defenders that sort attitude comes from the top. Honesty to supporters is a non negotiable in all aspects of communication bar recruiting. And when you think about it do you think the hiding of the injury until selection time has hindered Freo in any meaningful way.

We’ve had a change in the coaching department. That usually directly results in most underperforming teams winning.

Ergo, we will win regardless of Lever, Hibberd and Garlett not playing.

Lever brought back too early by the fitness gurus. What a surprise.

And that is the least imposing looking MFC forward six on paper we’ve seen in some years. Preuss can’t get a run among that lot? Really?

Can’t win games of footy if you’ve got no firepower. Freo by 7 goals.

ANB ... ugh.

Oscar McDonald not named at any level this week. Not an emergency, not in the Casey squad and not on the injury list.

Seems strange. Hope he's traveling alright.

These threads are getting more depressing as the year trickles on, much like our entire season.

Injuries, poor form and just an all round bleakness to it all.

I cant even bring myself to go to the game. ?

I don't mind it if Fritsch actually lines up as selected in the forward line.  Great mark and very good kick for goal.   Will do a lot for his confidence as he looks a bit lost as a defender.

He will be at least one player back in his natural position.  Now to put Gus back where he belongs in the middle.

With the change of coaches our line ups and positional changes during the game will be interesting to watch as will our ball movement.  Hopefully, more control than manic play on.

And hopefully if Oliver gets 25-35 possessions they have an impact and gain more than 55mts!  We need him to get much more value for his work.

In Vegas and wondering if anyone knows if you can watch AFL live anywhere?

Your best bet is https://www.watchafl.com.au/

Depending on how long you are away take out a weekly or monthly subscription.

I do this anytime I go overseas during the season.

The fitter and more match ready you are the less likely you will a) be susceptible to these kind of knocks and b) able to rebound quickly when they do occur.

All pointers say he wasn’t ready to return.

The pressure is on Hogan to kick a few this week.  No Lobb, McCarthy, Tabener

If May with Hore intercepting, can keep Hogan quiet it would be significant.

then it will come down to the midfield battle. if they break even and can spread and give their small fwds some time we will get beaten.  C'mon demons!

and FFS play Fristch up fwd!! he kicking inside 50 is terrific and he has an eye for goal

TMac and Weid have kicked a combined 18 goals in 20 games this season. That’s not one but your TWO key forwards combining for less than a goal per AFL game. This despite Melbourne having had the SECOND highest number of forward entries among all eighteen clubs in 2019 thus far.

Posters who keep defending these two really should read that paragraph again and just let those returns sink in for a minute or two.

If that doesn’t make them quite possibly the two players with the most pressure on them in the league I don’t know what else they’d have to do (or in their case, not do).

Hogan will be looking to impress though, no doubt.

Why would you even post such a thing? Says more about you than it does about Steve.

    HIGHLIGHTS/LOWLIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Melbourne traveled across the continent to take on the Fremantle Dockers in sweltering conditions at Mandurah south of Perth in a game that delivered the club both its highlight and its lowlight in the first minute.  But first, let’s start by doing away with the usual cliches used in connection with the game. It was just a practice match and the result didn’t matter. Bad kicking is bad football. The game was played in severe heat, the swirly breeze played havoc with both teams resulting in

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
