We can't stay out of the news at the moment...... it was a very strange decision to keep playing him in a praccy match and I think Mahoney needs to do some explaining.

    “Surely he is not going get up there and say it’s his fault" ...

    Social media has made these journalists' jobs a lot easier these days

    Does the club actually care what is being said about it in the media, or are the key individuals all bunkering down protecting their own backsides?

    What do the sponsors think of what seems to be a complete lack of professionalism and accountability at the club in certain respects this season?

    The last thing we need is the parents of players having reason to doubt that their sons are being looked after properly.

    Get on the bike MFC!  This has been a problem for years.  Pert needs to find the best in the business to fix and get our list fit!  AND stay fit!

    echoing what every supporter has said; worse thing it's coming from a former player and father of a current one himself!

    we really do manage to shoot ourselves in the foot as a club at the earliest opportunity

    Me too. Misso has made some really big blunders. Trengove and Viney the biggest ...but how big are they! Too many Players were not prepared fr the start of this season  and, operations or no, he’s got a case to answer. Joel Smith is just further proof here. u don’t need a sports science degree to have seen Joel smith should never have come bk on. No wonder Shaun is [censored], it’s his sons career on the line here.

    Read what I have been saying for years about our medical department and decisions regarding Viney's foot, May's groin, Viney's shoulder and now Smith.

     

    When an outsider can clearly see incompetent decision-making (putting injured players back on in dead rubbers), something is very wrong.

    What else could Joel say publicly.

    He is listed as 6-8 weeks and if it is 8,  that is 70% of the season he will have missed.

    If it is the club's fault, then you can understand why his father is furious, as would Joel be, privately, you would imagine.

    Why was Joel brought back onto the ground (JLT 2) when he was grimacing in pain while doing a fitness test along the boundary line in the second qtr. It might not have been captured on film but I saw it at the ground.

    Goodwin claimed it was due to rotations, however Richmond set a precedent in 2016 by playing 1 or 2 players short in the last quarter of a pre season game V's Port at Etihad and the AFL community were cool and understanding of that. Why didn't we do likewise?

    The footy club stuffed up and need to own the mistake and ensure it doesn't happen again as Joel has wasted 50 to 75% of what was supposed to be a promising year for him.

    Sounds like Goodwin stuffed up by deciding to put an injured player back on the ground.

    The issue is whether that decision was made with medical advice, and was that advice incorrect.
