Really worried about our ability to lock the ball inside our forward 50, let alone how it gets there in the first place. At least, there's not a great deal of pace in the Sydney midfield and McVeigh out is a big one given the drive he gives them.

I expect Buddy to kick a minimum of 3, but it could be an 8 or 9 goal showing the way our defence have been playing in 1v1s.

The season was done last week, but if we get smacked tomorrow, I fear we won't be able to get out of the bottom 4 this year.

3 games into what was meant to be a really promising season and it seriously feels like we’ve gone back in time. We’re back to looking at the fixture with dread to see who we’ve got next, and look at our available list thinking, “wow we’re in for a tough time.”

This week needs to be focusing on controlling what we have within our control, injuries are a part of professional sport so we have to get over who is not available. What we have to start with is getting our defensive set ups right and prevent easy transitions that almost always lead to a genuine shot on goal. When we do have opportunities going forward, lower the eyes and look for passes rather than blazing away and kicking to a two on one. 

Go back to basics to start and build from there. 

Hopefully Pruess can make his presence felt.

Righto I have seen enough of this [censored] in the last three weeks and it’s time to stand up. Pruess needs to play like the mummy over at GWS and use his frame to rag doll every mofo in his way, the soft [censored] umpiring this game specially if they are as inept as the crew we had last week won’t like that but take free kick against and move on, there is no substitute for physicality in this game.

 

ANB, Frost and Oscar have been useless as has Jones and Brayshaw still can’t hit the side of a barn. Frost on paper is the best match for Frankie and this should be his sink or swim moment, if you can’t perform one job you’re fired. We have the ability to win, the new rules have hurt us more than others and the coaching staff have been slow to adjust. Keep the faith my fellow Demons but the immediate future is tough, and we need to change while making some difficult decisions but the rewards will only come from a proactive and decisive approach to the challenges the club now faces. Be brave, be decisive and strike hard as all Demons should.

Looks more like a replacement for TMac to me, without TMac we would have had only the Weid as the only tall. With Preuss in we can rotate him and Gawn in the forward line.

I went to the pre season game in Shepparton. That’s how we’ve played the last three AFL games: as if we have a disjointed bunch of men on the field with no cohesion, no plan, experimenting with useless newbies.

I'm calling false news on this one Bing (although I certainly agree he's been nowhere near his best touch for a long while now, even on the occasions he's contributed) - when Jeff is up and about, when, he sets the tone for our forward defensive efforts, and is probably our leading player for forcing HTB frees in our forward 50. With Queen Mary Tomald, a sluggish Weid, and Fatracca up front, we're seriously lacking agility for forward 'coralling'. He's probably our best current hope in better trapping it in - which I think could possibly be our actual primary issue right now.

Bit nippy this morning, knocking off at lunch time.

Can our game plan be for frost to kick it out from full back and justboom it straight into our forward line to preuss.

btw I'm not counting Lockhart.  He did a nice job last week but is essentially a midfielder being tasked with a job he has not had time to develop in. 

Given that our talls are not excelling at i50 marks going in without a crumber, I can see the ball bouncing straight out again like it did vs Geelong when we went in without one.  I get the need for fwds to exert pressure and keep the ball i50 but it would be handy to have someone who can make something happen when the ball falls free.

 

That back line is VFL standard

Have been saying for many years that we should call in the umpires and ask what we are doing wrong with our positioning and tackling when we give so many free kicks away and receive so few. That the frees often seem to disadvantage our flow may be becUse there is a fault in our structure.
