The Pies controlling tempo and momentum of the game by accurate passing (must have a very high kicking efficiency in general tonight) and a lot of switching (keeping off) play around the back.  Also being VERY patient waiting for the right option to hit up around the back or on a shallow forward entry.  Alternatively they kick it low and flat to the hot spot (more so than bombing) if they have to under pressure in a play on situation.

They clearly have a game plan, most players know their roles and play accordingly and they are extremely fit and well drilled.  Barring injuries to key players they will make the GF IMHO.

Agreed. They have been very good. I’m amazed Richmond are this close

De Goey is something else.

Star. It’s just a matter of time until he’s unequivocally the best player in the league.

Big effort needed by the Tigers in the last. GWS away and Port away the next two. Could they go 1-3?

DeGoey is what I wish Petracca would become.

Agree. I commented last week that Petracca looks like he has put on a bit of muscle and looks bigger. But yes he has been around long enough now where he needs to start having breakout games. He needs to have an impact. I hope we see his talent shine through. I mean he was the number 2 pick in the draft and DeGoey was number 5. DeGoey is way in front at the moment.

Petracca and Degoey are completely different players. Please stop comparing them.

Anyway, watching how both Collingwood and Richmond play the MCG it really stands out to me that Goodwin's gameplan needs further refinements. When we lose on the MCG we seem to lose the same way. We get smashed in uncontested possessions and marks. If we were playing Collingwood tonight, we would comfortably lose by 10 goals.

We're still at least 12 months off it. We just can't fill the space at the MCG. We're not winning a flag or getting close to it until we start consistently owning that ground. We weren't just bruised and battered on Saturday. We were tired and slow.

Umpires have umpteen colours to choose from yet they wear yellow tops and black shorts at a Richmond home game - they look like Richmond players half the time....

They've been favouring the black and white team tonight though

Does Grimes get a week for the high hit on Elliott? Or, nothing to see here because Elliott is  a tough cookie and got up straight away.

I'm on the Degoey train now. What a finisher. This is what he has on Petracca. I can't recall our boy kicking that one around the body ever. Degoey does it with his eyes shut most of the time.

If Trac is going to reach his potential, which he certainly can, he needs to return to his 2017 finishing. Statistically they're similar, but right now, Degoey is a finisher and Petracca is not.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

    TRAINING: Monday 16th December 2024

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov
