Have the bombers been full strength have lost to both Carlton and Geelong, and been hyped up by the media all summer

Bombers looked poor. Cats not much better.

Hightlight of the match was a kid doing some commentary for a few minutes. Nailed it

Can't take any notice of pre season games. Druggies will finish higher than the cats at the end of the year.

Geelong are almost certain to play finals, but it's false hope in my view.  They have a serious home ground advantage, especially against to poorer interstate teams, so they chalk up around 7 wins just from that.  They will then have away games against some of those poorer sides, so they are almost good for that 12 win season that generally sees you sneak in to 8th.

As soon as they are playing on big grounds against better opposition, especially in September, they are useless.

I'd prefer them not to make it at all, rather than be embarrassed in the first final.

Maybe they are deliberately trying to Fly under the bridge, Pre season matches, to catch by surprise.   I expect them to push up the ladder in 2019. IF they have they're heads down and rsses up.

Adelaide look ok.  Top 4 quality with easy draw.  Only real weakness is the ruck.

Jacobs is ok...

I think their 2 big forwards are front runners & their defence could be suspect against good opposition talls.

Also need to keep their small/medium defenders honest, that's where they launch from.

Hoping we can sneak into the 8 with a hard fought win this arvo...

According to my calculations we're still a massive chance for Jalapeno top-four - and even a sneaky shot at runners up behind Carton (hehe) or, as official moral pre-season premiers, Collingwood. Go Dees!

(Damn - forgot about Radelaide)

Will be hoping and praying that Richmond, GC and Carlton get done this weekend to sneak into the top 6.

Sadly I think top 4 is out of the question as  Collingwood and Carlton play each other, while WC and Brisbane’s percentage may be too hard to overtake.

Hats off to the Crows for a fantastic Jalepano series.

At the risk of unsettling the MFCSS-superstitious masses prior to the season proper, my predicted 80-point win over a travelling BrisVegas outfit should see to that percentage deficit quick-smart.

One of Port or Norf in their game should change jumpers at half time. Ridiculous choice of strips in my eyes.

AFL will be happy with Port v Norf scoring fest.  At one stage North kicked 5 goals in 5 minutes from 5 consecutive centre clearances.

dominant ruckmen feeding big bodied mids who can kick it to leading forwards will be worth their weight in gold in 2019

Big game for us today in the context of the Jalapeño Lettuce & Tomato season.

Brisbane sitting pretty in second spot and will be keen to post another win to lock in a top four finish and due to our reasonable percentage, a win for us should see us slot into the top 8.

...hmmm, I should have read the rest of the thread better before duplicatING a fairly obvious point.  Ar well, I guess it is just a preseason post, doesn't count for as much as posts in a few weeks time against Port.

  • CASEY: Coburg

The Casey Demons returned to their home ground which was once a graveyard for opposing teams but they managed to gift the four points on offer to Coburg with yet another of their trademark displays of inaccuracy in front of goals and some undisciplined football that earned the displeasure of the umpires late in the game. The home team was welcomed by a small crowd at Casey Fields and looked right at home as it dominated the first three quarters and led for all bar the last five minutes of the game. In the end, they came away with nothing, despite winning everywhere but on the scoreboard and the free kick count.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 17 vs Adelaide

The Demons were wasteful early before putting the foot down early in the 2nd quarter but they chased tail for the remainder of the match. They could not get their first use of the footy after half time and when they did poor skills, execution and decision making let them down.
