Dyson's really suck.

Kevin Dyson was admired by many & still remains a popular past player. His ability to find the footy & hit targets with his renowned 50 or 60m kicks was amazing. He was a natural footballer & flew under the radar at the Dees in his time at the club.

He would make some of our players today look silly with his precision skills by either hand or foot & this was a real feature of his game.

I remember watching a reserves game one day in the early 90's & saw Dyso drop a torpedo through the goals from the HF boundary at the G.......one of the biggest kicks I had ever seen.

I know he & Darren Bennett use to hang out a bit & at one stage KD was thinking about punting as well. He & Bennett had the best kicks that I have ever seen at the Dees......beautiful to watch.

Biggest quaddies ever, but unlike CP, his kicking was rediculously good!

Anyone know what KD is doing? I think he stayed in Syd after his stint at the swans.....

Didn't escape my radar.   He was a favourite for me.

I was really disappointed when we lost him.

He's still up in Sydney. From memory he moved to Sydney because he had a work opportunity in IT. Last I heard he was involved in a software company providing logistics functions.

He was involved in the local Junior footy club I coached at. His son was a few years below mine. He was incredibly commited to the junior program not just coaching but organising footy trips interstate every year and other great initiatives. The kids in that age group loved it.

I've also seen him at a couple of the Demons functions up here in Sydney. He's a Dees man. A great guy. Very friendly and still very passionate about footy.

I enjoyed seeing him play. And if I remember correctly he hired a specialist running coach to help with his speed (which was his major deficiency).

Apparently he was a very good pianist as well!

Dyson was interesting as a footballer and yes, he could kick. Bennett was exceptionally good, as well and a better kick than Dyson. However, overall for each kick and/or delivery over distance, consistently, there has not been one better than Rod Grinter

Ordinary player. Nothing to discuss.

Dyson played 70 games for the Dees including 5 finals & 35 games for the swans including 1996 grand final where he was almost there best player on the day.

Ordinary player? Ordinary comment from someone who clearly knows nothing about footy.

Was Kevin Dyson an ordinary player?  please discuss

He was my favourite player as a kid. I had his number on my back. I have his autograph on the number on that jumper too. I think I used to wear it to bed. ?

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
