  • Demonland changed the title to May Hamstring Injury Confirmed (8/2/19)

OMG then he will miss out on the joys of AFLXCREMENT!

(Tommy's toe is also probably a bit sore)

Edited by monoccular

He's still getting over Jack Riewoldt's sick burn, so I doubt he would want to show his face anyway.

Is this a new fresh hamstring injury or the tweak that was reported on Demonland through the training reports prior to Maroochydore?

Apparently hamstring injuries are now minor ... gotta love the spin the comms team put on our injuries ... "Minor hamstring injury for May"

I’d rather he be fit to play AFLX and not have gotten injured at training, personally.

Thank God! May has an injury, so we don't have to worry about him playing AFLX and getting injured!

Both GC recruits getting soft tissues at around the same time. Just hope he comes good quickly and plays JLT2.

the Indigenous team is the one AFLX team with some form of purpose so it’s disappointing he didn’t get to play. He’s more of a match fitness guy than a training guy so I didn’t mind him playing in that, less risk than the Pies scratch match anyway

WE  think the quote should read " Minor hamstring injury, back in May"

That would then be a back related hamstring

He probably is, just too smart to be involved in that garbage.  T Mac should follow suit.

Smokescreen to avoid the dribble that is AFL X, we are smart.

I don’t think this is the case but I hope you’re right.

Best news I’ve heard since his AFLX selection!

 Agree DS

Despite the seeming joy on this thread it's not the best news.

It's early but it would be nice to see that injury list dwindle to almost nothing a la the Tigers in 2017.

Didn’t we suffer injuries attributed to AFLX last year? How did we go with scratch matches? Not sure the verdict is out on which one is riskier yet..

The only thing to come out of last years game was many fans (myself included) staggered that Tom McDonald played when he was managing a toe injury. Everyone else got through fine. The small field, minimal contact and quick game time is pretty safe. If fully healthy then May could play that instead of a heavy contact practice game.

My view on Tommy Mc depends on how his toe is. If there's any underlying concern that a firm Marvel stadium wouldn't be good for it then he should pull out.

  • REPORT: Adelaide

The atmosphere at the Melbourne Football Club at the beginning of the season was aspirational following an injury-plagued year in 2024. Coach Simon Goodwin had lofty expectations with the return of key players, the anticipated improvement from a maturing group with a few years of experience under their belts, and some exceptional young talent also joining the ranks. All of that went by the wayside as the team failed to click into action early on. It rallied briefly with a new strategy but has fallen again with five more  consecutive defeats.

  • CASEY: Coburg

The Casey Demons returned to their home ground which was once a graveyard for opposing teams but they managed to gift the four points on offer to Coburg with yet another of their trademark displays of inaccuracy in front of goals and some undisciplined football that earned the displeasure of the umpires late in the game. The home team was welcomed by a small crowd at Casey Fields and looked right at home as it dominated the first three quarters and led for all bar the last five minutes of the game. In the end, they came away with nothing, despite winning everywhere but on the scoreboard and the free kick count.

  • PREGAME: Rd 18 vs North Melbourne

After four weeks on the road the Demons make their long awaited return to the MCG next Sunday to play in a classic late season dead rubber against the North Melbourne Kangaroos. Who comes in and who comes out?

  • POSTGAME: Rd 17 vs Adelaide

The Demons were wasteful early before putting the foot down early in the 2nd quarter but they chased tail for the remainder of the match. They could not get their first use of the footy after half time and when they did poor skills, execution and decision making let them down.
