Lever to undergo minor procedure on injured knee (5/12/18)

Must be frustrating for Jake but it’s essentially good news.

Must have him pain free for the intense rehab in the States - providing that this surgery has not pushed that date back.

That's how I see it too, Steve.  A bit frustrating but in the grand scheme of things it matters little.  If he is back on the track by Monday then he really hasn't missed too much.  That's a win for Jake and the club in my book.

Can you recall when he was scheduled for the States rehab phase?

My only concern is this may affect that schedule.

No idea to be honest.  With what is seemingly a quick turn around, you would assume it wouldn't affect that timeline too much, if at all.

Quick turnaround yes but having a knife in there again must present new variables.

Fingers crossed.

Why we need to rely on outside media to advise members and supporters of injury issues is beyond me ... disappointing

Ben Guthrie covers the Demons for AFL.com.au and has his articles reposted on the club site and Stevo works for channel 7 who pay for the game. You throw a little bone here or there and you get better coverage when needed on the things that matter. Not to mention they'll come to training and cover what they see. The club doesn't need to be reporting every minor incident to fans, it's not in our best interest to know.

What is he 23 or 24 & now having his 3rd knee surgery.

Not looking good

To be fair this has been labelled as a minor procedure and he is billed to be back on the track on Monday. Technically going under the knife is surgery but this procedure is not a knee reconstruction.

I'm a tad worried. Similar things were said about Viney, TMac, Vandenburg etc and they all turned into far longer lay offs than originally stated/planned. Doubt we'll see Lever until the second half of the year. Hopefully he is fit and firing come finals time. Could be integral to our premiership chances!

When I spoke to him said it was just an irritation more than anything, must have flared up after running Monday and decision to tidy it up, had a similar thing with my second op, just discomfort, went for same tidy up, no issues afterwards and was doing same workload as was military at that time

You ex army mate?

That may be the case DS, but as a supporter / member I couldn't give a rats about what set up there is behind the scenes amongst the journalists - AFL,.com.au, channel 7 or the Bendigo Advertiser for that matter. I'm only interested in how well I'm kept informed by the club.

When injury news comes from outside the club first, it creates the perception that we are trying to manage supporter expectation/hide potentially bad news. The club has some history on this. And its not minor news when we are left to guess how the 2nd reco is going to our very well paid recruit for which we paid 2 first rounders.

Agreed more like 2nd half of the season. He needs as much time as possible to get his knee 100 per cent right and properly conditioned.

One would expect the Club to take a cautious approach knowing whats at stake if there is another problem.

I do think that he will have to modify his game somehow. How, I don't know, but his intercept game style where he is often coming from the side and leaping and landing on one leg worried me before the injury and doubly worries me post injury.

The Ox only returned to play out his career by changing the way he played.

Its a minor surgery but the 2 ACL's alone are a worry. 1 ACL alone is usually a concern. On the upside, if there is one, Lever isn't that well conditioned IMO, so there is a lot of room for improvement.

Thanks LT for your expert inside medical opinion..?

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
