That's fifteen... if I understand correctly there are 40 on an AFL list plus 7 rookies.

Perhaps we may need to call some demonlanders up for a game.

PS: There was a time several years back when Collingwoood had to advertise for players to make up their VFL numbers

We had, what, six afl listed players in the vfl yesterday? Barrel well and truly being scrapedย

Actually 39 and 6 rookies Jim. Of that 39, 14 currently on the injured list, of which arguably 11 are best 22

Just read the report on the Melbourne FC web page about Hibbo only being out for a couple which is handy.

Itโ€™s hard to compete when your first choice backline is looks like:

FB: ย Knee. ย  ย Knee. ย  ย  Concussion

HB: ย Groin. ย  ย Groin. ย  ย Collarboneย

emergency (Lewis) to be advised.

ย

edit: forgot our forward line:

HF: Knee. ย  Soreness. ย  ย  Ankle

FF: ย Foot ย  ย  ย TMac ย  ย  ย  Jeffy

Yes. Played on. ย Again not sure why given injury.ย

He again was our best forward. A huge blow.ย

But of course!ย

Why wouldnโ€™t you take a risk with a best 22 player and a foot injury? This has never ever ended badly.ย

Seriously laughable.ย

ย

Just another blight on mission and our medico's how the [censored] do we let a guy with a broken [censored] foot play out a game.

Those who were at the game would have seen this, but Iโ€™ve neverย seen somebody look so lame when he hobbled back on.

โ€œJakeโ€™s got a fractureย mid-foot which is reasonably significant so heโ€™s probably going to take at least four to five weeks,โ€ Misson said.

Get [censored].ย  We are screwed now.ย ย  Melk is one of our top 5 most important players.ย ย  And given Missons pitiful track record with foot injuries,ย  I have zero faith melk will get back at all this season.

Did he? I read that he first went off in theย third quarter, but the break happened in the fourth quarter.

A 15-player injury list is sizeable. On the AFL's website (which is not up to date), St Kilda has 14 players listed but most other clubs are 10-12, and some are much less (e.g. Brisbane has three).

More importantly, of the 15, 8ย are first choiceย 22 (Lewis, Lever, Melksham, Hannan, May, Hibberd, AVB, Jetta) and a further 4 (Weideman, JKH, J Smith, KK) who are on the fringe, if not actually best 22.

It's tough going for us on this front at the moment.

Whatโ€™s going on down there, J Smith does his groin in a practice match comes back on & looks like heโ€™s going to miss up to 16 weeks & now Melksham has a fractured foot & he comes back on.

Im surprised Hibberd didnโ€™t play out the game with a broken collarboneย

Not to mention Viney the last couple of years

No wonder Misson leaving at years end, before he gets the sack!!!!

ย

Yea Mission isnโ€™t a doctor and would have zero say in someone playing on during a game.ย

ย

IF SO THEN SERIOUS SERIOUS QUESTIONS NEED TO BE ASKED AND STAFF SHOWN THE DOOR!

TYPICAL MFC

Iโ€™m assuming the only reason he came back on was due to rotations. He couldnโ€™t evenย jog when on the field.

Do we sob it up and concede itโ€™s not our year due to injuries or do we draw inspiration off Richmond who are getting it doneย despite their injury crisis?

Agree. ย I had 9 out of best 22 with Weideman still in my best 22 based on what he can produce and the role as a CHF:FFย

I think we win the injury crisis

I hope you are right. We have a very poor track record managing foot injuries.ย

Just to add to our woes, a poster has reported in the Sam Weideman thread that he needs hip surgery ?

ย

Why the outrage, for all we know going back on the ground may have helped heal Jakey boys foot and reduce time out of the game. Looking forward to the whining from so called doctors on here.ย

  • PREVIEW: Collingwood

Way back in March we contemplated the possibility of a Demon resurgence after Simon Goodwinโ€™s summer of love.ย Manyย issues at the club had seemingly been addressed, key players were returning from injury and a brand new day was about to dawn. We imagined the coach pulling a rabbit out of a hat. The team would roar up the charts, push aside every opponent and make its way to a Grand Final ending in ultimate triumph with Goody and Max holding the premiership cup aloft under a shower of red and blue ticker tape.

Weโ€™re back! That was fun. The Mighty Deesโ€™ Season 10 campaign is off toa flying start with a commandingย 48-point winover the Western Bulldogs, retaining the Hampson-Hardeman Cup in style. After a hard-fought first half in slippery conditions, the Dees came out in the second half and showcased their trademark superior class, piling on four goals in the third termand never looked back.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
