This club has WAY too many players who depart this life before their time. Don't know if its cursed or what but we need to win a flag to put an end to this....

Wayne Gordon & Steven Clark, the list is too long, very sad indeed

This is shocking.

He was one of my favourite playersย for a while. Thought heโ€™d win a Brownlow.

Very sad news. A life hasย been cut far too short here.

Way too young. ย Very sad news to wake to. ย Family/friends will be devastated. R.I.P. Col & ty for some fine memories in the red & blue mate

I heard on the news this morning that an unnamed former footballer had died near Mildura and Colin was immediately the player that came to mind. So sad to hear this confirmed - 32 is way too young for anyone to die.

There areย three occasions/memories with me/my family where his qualities as a person shone, firstly at an after game function at the tennis centre where he took the time to chatย with my mother in law who at the age of 85 had a long discussion, and at the end of it he was calling her Nanna- made her night she still has the photo, secondly at a pre season function at Caulfield racecourse where he was kind enough to share a tip which duly saluted and thirdly where he came to our school and talked to my year 12 PE class regarding training and game preparation. To his family and friends my prayers and thoughts are with you. RIP Colin

Just horrible. We have had some tragedies over recent years that's for sure. Way too young.

Col was also involved with the Reach program while at Melbourne and acted as a mentor to one of my staffs son who was being bullied and involved wirh a seedy group of peers who were leading him astray. I cannot say that Col saved him from a life of crime but I know he looked up to Col and is now a well adjusted boy. He told me Col was his role model as he had no dad or anyone to look up to.

Gorgeous player when on ... so sad to have lived such a short life.

Here is a small youtube playlist of Colin's highlights. Just let it play through, clips will automatically cycle to the next.

Rest In Peace. So sad when someone so young dies tragically and after his troubled past seemed to be turning things around.

  • GAMEDAY: Western Bulldogs

It's Game Day and the Demons will be running out on the field with a new Head Coach, albeit a caretaker, for the first time in 3,060 days when they face the Western Bulldogs at the MCG today. What do you want to see from the Demons in the first match of the Post Simon Goodwin era?

  • Thank You Simon Goodwin

As Demon fans, weโ€™ve ridden a rollercoaster of emotions over the decades; the heartbreaks, the near misses, the wooden spoons, and the endless waiting. But through it all, we clung to hope. And then came Simon Goodwin. Before he ever wore red and blue, he was a champion in his own right. A five-time All-Australian, two-time Best and Fairest, and two-time premiership hero and Captain with Adelaide, Simon Goodwin was always destined to lead. When he transitioned from the field to the coach's box, first as an assistant at Essendon, he began shaping a new legacy.

  • PREVIEW: Western Bulldogs

Long ago and far away, the Melbourne Football Club replaced its coach in difficult circumstances after the team suffered a devastating loss. In the aftermath, I penned the following words: โ€œThen came the politics, the intrigue, the axing, the sound of the football world laughing at a club, the circling of the media vultures, the reinvention of history, the anger, the irony, the pathos, the hurt on the face of the president, the dignified departure of the coach, and the determination of the newly appointed caretaker.โ€ Today, weโ€™re back in the same place although oneย difference here is that the coach who was terminated this time is Simon Goodwin, the man who four years ago

  • REPORT: West Coast

The Charles Dickens novel, A Tale of Two Cities, opens with, โ€œIt was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, โ€ฆโ€ย  This phrase highlights many of the significant challenges that humanity encounters in life, ranging from experiencing remarkable highs to living in times of despair. This is a concept that should resonate with all supporters of the Melbourne Football Club this morning as they reflect on its comprehensive 83-point victory over the struggling West Coast Eagles at Marvel Stadium. The outcome proved beyond doubt that they are the worst of clubs and that we are the best of the worst.
