Wow savage memes! Maybe as a counter to the #putoutyourcheeseboards for last year, maybe #putoutyourcentrelinkenvelops ?

Feel for Pies but thrilled Howe didn’t win a flag. Or Eddie.

I have a lot of time for Buckley. I like him a hell of a lot more as a coach than I did a player.

Have just seen the footage of Buckley consoling the runner in the rooms.

Had not realised it was Alex Woodward, the poor bloke who had done heaps of knees before and after being drafted by the Hawks. This would be worse by far.

It is time to put strict limits on runners time on the ground. I like the idea of it being only after a goal.

Bucks is a class act and his demeanour has been exemplary

The runner's impact was far less of a factor than the pulled kick from Adams, would've hit Yeo laces out even if the runner hadn't impacted Stevensons path

It was a [censored] kick

Demonland, think of us Western Demon supporters, why can't all Eagle supporters stay in Victoria for the next 12 months?

I had my office covered in Eagles crap this week. It time for others to suffer the Eagle victory.

Good God No....

Best for people to stay indoors tonight. There may be magpie mayhem. Cops in for a tough night. https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/collingwood-fans-arrested-as-they-leave-the-mcg-20180929-p506v7.html

Yes taking your advice. I live in Fitzroy but just 100m from the Collingwood border and the Police Helicopter has been circling around my battened down warehouse for the past 30 minutes, just assuming the filth are on the rampage down Smith Street!

I wonder if @Ethan Tremblay indulged in a scat throwing celebration?

Not yet but the night is still young and I haven’t had my second souvlaki yet.

Why the sad sacks?? Nothing better than those pricks choking after kicking the first five goals. Only us winning a gf would be better. This is awesome. Make no mistakes they are the enemy. Dogs.

I think I said earlier that Bucks is the only part of the Filth I like. Basically pleased West Coast won. Simpson, on the other hand, has the personality of a 1970s beige carpet.

Good result in the end. Ripping game, Pies should have won but didnt. Now West coast can [censored] of back west.

Why?  Other than those opening goals, I thought WCE looked a better team for the rest of the match.  They just couldn't quite make it count on the score board (until it counted)

Who cares.

it was a wonderful feeling that the filth lost.

YES!!!!!!!!!!!

Hate all other teams equally: if we don’t win the premiership who gives a toss

Yes, thought their overall marking power was the difference

Marking forward and back was fantastic.

Hope our guys were watching closely, and will watch it all again and again with the coaching staff

Love it.  (Some folk are very clever and quick)

Great game to watch as an impartial.

The better team won on the day.  Collingwood has an incredible 15 minutes in the first quarter, but west coast wore them down over the next three.

I have no idea why such a big deal is being made of the runner.  Had absolutely no impact on the final result:

a) terrible kick

b) no Collingwood player was going to get near it anyway

c) West Coast we’re already all over Collingwood by that stage

I reckon we could’ve won it had we got there.

shows the importance of finishing top 4.

We have to finish in the top 4 next year.

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.

After five consecutive defeats, the Demons have now notched up back-to-back victories, comfortably accounting for the Tigers in the traditional ANZAC Eve clash. They surged to a commanding 44-point lead early in the final quarter before easing off the pedal, resting skipper Max Gawn and conceding the last four goals of the game to close out a solid 20-point win.
