You know that for me the Collywobbles is back and they have secures their 27 th Runner up  a record that will never be broken. However they lost another close one and that was made to happen when their banner ripped off the pole  well before the game.

No sympathy for them at all.

As for WCE good luck to them take your cup back and celebrate it in WA we don't need you around us.

Bit early RJ?

Yep, called that one a bit early 'Jibroni'...

Thank goodness they turned it around.

Great effort by WC and a great coaching display by Simpson.

His match ups were spot on as they were last week against us...

No-one should ever lose like that. I felt for my Collingwood fans at the Harp today and gave them my condolences.

But it had to happen, I'm sorry.

He's a class act 'chook'...pity he has to coach Coliingwood.

Taking the time to console the cheer squad members before the game is the measure of the man.

He's (Buckley) changed, he's grown a lot, the past 12 months.   Very very noticeably.

Done a great job, in 2018.

Certainly cashing in on the loss Andy!

I thought Will Schofield was terrific for the Eagles. He saved some certain goals with his desperation and I just love McGlovern.

I know what hes saying... what I'm saying is, to change a culture out, to build a fresh one,,,  a club has to cut strings with many experienced players... to change things.

Not debating that. My point was entirely around how we botched that trade. Don't give a [censored] about Howe leaving, stuff him, but we should be extracting better currency than the likes of Ben Kennedy for Howe.

How's the Collingwood cheer squad feeling right now about that banner...

Not near as bad as that runner. That had an actual impact on the result.

Great game, the best team won. A few chokers there in the last quarter but 44 blokes going toe-to-toe.

Dom Sheeds's goal. Just wow.

A shocking game from the umps. Many head high contacts missed and a lot of dropping the ball/holding the ball interpreted as a ball up. Something has to be done about blocking in marking contests. A real blight on the game now.

And even though I admire Collingwood under Buckley (who I loathed as a player but respect as a coach) there remains a deep seated, unspoken satisfaction that Collingwood have lost another GF.

What a beautiful thing - the filth nutted in the last moments.

Melbourne must learn from that. The weagles were jumped and trailed by 5 goals yet fought their way back - that's what premiers do.

BBO, we must grudgingly admit that Collingwood played well whilst thoroughly enjoying the style of their demise. That there was probably a block on Maynard that enabled Sheed to mark and goal, well that was poetic justice.

Beautiful work by that umpire.

I know this one, it was Geelong?

Only reason I'm happy the Eagles won.

If Collingwood won we'd be hearing all about it from every bandwagon. The Eagles can celebrate as loud as they want in Perth.

Demonland, think of us Western Demon supporters, why can't all Eagle supporters stay in Victoria for the next 12 months?

I had my office covered in Eagles crap this week. It time for others to suffer the Eagle victory.

or put out a contract on him.

Have just seen the footage of Buckley consoling the runner in the rooms.

Had not realised it was Alex Woodward, the poor bloke who had done heaps of knees before and after being drafted by the Hawks. This would be worse by far.

Feel for Pies but thrilled Howe didn’t win a flag. Or Eddie.

I have a lot of time for Buckley. I like him a hell of a lot more as a coach than I did a player.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

It's Game Day and the Demons have a chance to notch up their third consecutive win — something they haven’t done since Round 5, 2024. But to do it, they’ll need to exorcise the Demons of last year’s disastrous trip out West. Can the Dees continue their momentum, right the wrongs of that fateful clash, and take another step up the ladder on the road to redemption?
