Wouldn't be surprised if that pick 5 goes directly to Adelaide for their pick 8 and 13. We then pass on pick 8 to Suns and go to the draft with pick 13. That would be a good result.

Not a bad idea to be honest, and it highlights how there could be a myriad of things happen between now and tomorrow night.  There seems to be a bit of mail suggesting we just get Pick 5, other mail suggests we get a few second rounders, and so forth.  Anything could happen.

Plus we won't know anything until the Lachie Neale deal is done.  Until then we will still only get speculation and nothing more.

Jesse hogans management reporting that they never asked for an 8 year deal?? what the actual [censored] is going on.

My first thought. Perhaps that invention puts the heat on jesses manager and takes it off Jesse's so called character issues. So that if they dont get Jesse this year they can minimise the damage they may have caused him if they go again next year? Perhaps Freo were looking for a an explanation to give to  fans. Perhaps someone is just spilling bullship stories.

Jesse's manager coming out and denying it outs the heat back on them.

I'm flummoxed to think that some would seriously think Mahoney still hasn't a few tricks left in the bag.

If there's a master juggler of late pick swaps it's this guy..

I'll await the actual outcomes...not the fishwrapping.

if that happens we have been bent over and had a cactus inserted. To swap Hogan for an older player of dubious fitness and work ethic is pathetic. In no way is May in the same ball park as Hogan. Even if KK is included i don't think that counts because we would have got him  if we had kept Hogan.

WTF are Freo up to? They are seriously a shambles.

Freo will be laughing if all they have to give up is pick 5, especially if they hold out on Neale and get more. I understand the outcome base idea but does that mean we just forget about the investment that we’ve placed in him? Personally I’d rather us hold onto him than take pick 5 (traded onto GC for May).

He is higher quality than May and that should bloody well be compensated.

Freo don't have pick 5, Brisbane do.  The only way Freo get 5 off Brisbane is via a Neale trade.

I honestly can’t recall as many games being played as has been the case with this trade. It’s unbelievable.

Freo & Bell are a mess. Do they think that telling lies will help them? Why would Hogan want to go there?

Sadly I expect he'd put up with the odd porky for $1m  year.

If we win a flag in the next 2-5 years on the back of a ballsy decision to effectively do a straight swap of Hogan for May and KK, picks won't matter one iota. Will they?

Player movement has never been more active, the landscape is always changing and supporters need to get with the times. Whilst some of you worry about draft picks, clubs like Essendon, Collingwood, St Kilda, Hawthorn etc are becoming increasingly aggressive in this domain.

Think for a minute how competitive the top 8 will be next year? The are 12 + teams who can make it. Goodwin and co have clearly identified that our window is here and it's now and our most pressing need is shoring up our defence as it was clearly our biggest weakness last year and was the sole  reason teams were able to stay with us during games last year.

My feeling is we're going to do a deal and there will be some unhappy posters on demonland. But I also have the feeling that Goody, being the ruthless, uncompromising competitor he is, wants a flag next year and can see we're within reach.

Here's our chance.

Spot on, Steve.  Josh Mahoney and co. will be thinking the exact same thing.

Morning.

indication is deal will be done today. Me thinks we end up with 5 from Neale deal and 23.

Afelaide owes us one and will give 8 and 13.

8 goes to Gold Coast with future 4th rounder for May and kk.

13 we draft another bolster (Oliver style)

all guess work

Pick 5 alone would be a massive, disheartening compromise.

ADELAIDE ARE NOT GOING TO TRADE 8 & 13 TO US FOR 5 BEFORE TRADE PERIOD IS OVER.

Why would they when they can wait until draft night, see whose actually available at 5, then make the call opposed to doing it blind?

One question is have to ask is why would a player want to go to a club that is seemingly already treating him like a chump before he even arrives. If I was Jesse I’d tell them to bugger off and never call again after the crap they’ve pulled this trade period.

I would also hope that Jesse himself would feel in some way indebted to the club for the way we have managed him the last few years and tell Freo to give us fair compensation for him.
