I refuse to join any club that would have me as a member. Hang on I am a member.

Haha, giving yourself away there.

Why don’t you put yor teeth in backwards and bite yourself to death

Surely we've gone too far down the track for this not to happen now.

Indeed

Imagine the embarrassment if this thread reaches 200 pages only for Jesse to recommit to the Demons

Range Rover or E25? Or were they the same person?

I've never understood why people create multiple accounts.

A bit weird.

No, it is weird. Everyone here is under a pseudonym in the first place.

Why a second one? I can't use my secret identity for this post ...... I know! I'll use my *other* secret identity!

Do you recommend we stop at 199 and wait ? ;)

Because they get banned.

I liked RR, E25 and Stuie, but I find myself at odds with him/them on this particular occasion.

Hogan hasn't matched Buddy's output yet, but he's only 23 and has much better output to date than many superstar forwards of the past. And as we all know, talls take much longer to hit their straps.

I'd back Jesse to win a Coleman one day (at the very least), but at the same time, we have more pressing needs than one gun forward. With our defence being a pressing need, we have Tommy Mac who has stepped into the elite category and a developing Weideman. If we want to win a flag next year or the year after, IMO, we have to bite the bullet and fix our defence as a matter of priority over keeping Hogan.

If Jesse wanted to stay, then we'd find another way of getting May, but as this opportunity has presented itself via Jesse's refusal to properly extend his contract, I'm happy to get the maximum compensation out of him - which we will get and even Drags agrees on this point.

Funny what we take out of posts sometimes...

This one ...that you like Stuie :)

I generally like most posters, BB.

I dunno....186 has a certain ring about it for a Demon board.

A guy on SEN, just said he spoke to Hogan’s best mate over in Perth and he told him Jesse is definitely coming home and it’s just a matter of this year or next.

Take it for what it’s worth.

Typical millennials!

Changing work places at the drop of a hat.

I would. Especially if I was Ross Lyon and staring down another season with Taberner, McCarthy and whichever other no-name hack he’s been running with in that forward line the past few seasons. They are under serious threat of a bottom four finish Freo, which would likely cost the coach his job. They are DESPERATE.

Nowhere have I ever stated that Hogan is no good. He’s a talented young key forward with potential, however he does have his flaws. People on here talk like he’s guaranteed to be a multiple All-Australian , multiple Coleman Medal winning champion of the sport in years to come. He is being talked about like he’s the next Buddy Franklin. It’s bulltish. Living in Dee-nial land.

At 23yo Buddy was winning a flag, kicking a ton and routinely wheeling away from 60m out and thumping sausage rolls through at post height.

Jesse Hogan has achieved nothing in footy yet except winning a Rising Star award and showing plenty of promise, as well as exhibited some worrying defects. A clear eyed view show  that’s all he’s done.

Freo will pay up the extra top tenner for him  because they have no bloody choice.

I said on this forum once that he'll either be a solid forward-flanker that routinely kicks 40-50 goals a year, or he'll end up as Clive Waterhouse 2.0. The way people attacked me you'd think I'd killed their dog. Hogan both epitomizes and is the antithesis of Waterhouse's career so far.

I think I've nailed it

All this constant contract speculation with Jesse is obviously a ruse to get more hits on Demonland…… I'm on to you @Nasher @Demonland

Demonland: Hey Jesse, it's Demonland. We'd love to get you on our podcast.

JH: Look, I'm not much of a public speaker. Is there anything else I can do to help you out?

Demonland: Now that you mention it...

They're contracted to drag out negotiations until 5 minutes before the deadline.

Not a lot..

Some bloke called Hogan's playing footy next year for someone ;)

No, and Jesse and his management have said they’re not interested in discussing one at this stage.

I think that on the eve of the upcoming football week, Jesse and his manager have teased us with their silence quite enough. The cash registers seem to be the only point of interest - not MFC, not Freo - just mounting speculation to envisage from a point of advantage.

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

The media has performed a complete reversal in its coverage of the Melbourne Football Club over the past month and a half. Having endured intense criticism from all quarters in the press, which continually identified new avenues for scrutiny of every aspect, both on and off the field, and prematurely speculated about the departures of coaches, players, officials, and various employees from a club that lost its first five matches and appeared out of finals contention, the narrative has suddenly shifted to one of unbridled optimism.  The Demons have won five of their last six matches, positioning themselves just one game (and a considerable amount of percentage) outside the top eight at the halfway mark of the season. They still trail the primary contenders and remain far from assured of a finals berth.

  • REPORT: Sydney

A few weeks ago, I visited a fellow Melbourne Football Club supporter in hospital, and our conversation inevitably shifted from his health diagnosis to the well-being of our football team. Like him, Melbourne had faced challenges in recent months, but an intervention - in his case, surgery, and in the team's case, a change in game style - had brought about much improvement.  The team's professionals had altered its game style from a pedestrian and slow-moving approach, which yielded an average of merely 60 points for five winless games, to a faster and more direct style. This shift led to three consecutive wins and a strong competitive effort in the fourth game, albeit with a tired finish against Hawthorn, a strong premiership contender.  As we discussed our team's recent health improvement, I shared my observations on the changes within the team, including the refreshed style, the introduction of new young talent, such as rising stars Caleb Windsor, Harvey Langford, and Xavier Lindsay, and the rebranding of Kozzy Pickett from a small forward to a midfield machine who can still get among the goals. I also highlighted the dominance of captain Max Gawn in the ruck and the resurgence in form in a big way of midfield superstars Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver.
