The ex-player scandals are becoming more pissweak by the day. By Friday it's Josh Wagner crossing the road against the red man.

Whun Dan, will have him on the chain gang for that?

Jesse gotta have it!!

worth the fine

Well we are after a big bodied forward who can score?

I am struggling with what he has done wrong. Freo are not  playing finals, there are no transfered cases in WA. The general population can pretty much do as they please. Am I missing something?

When returning to WA from interstate, you are required to self isolate for 14 days. Only those who live at the same address may you come in to contact with.

It's a WA law breach, not a specific AFL Covid rule breach (although the AFL procedures may include an obligation to follow State rules and laws).

There is no other country in the world that has closed internal states off from one another like we have.

Sure cities and areas have been quarantined and distance restrictions have been imposed but States.... not to my knowledge.

Hogan came from an isolated hub where the players are tested once or twice a week..... the application of sensible risk based decision making has been overtaken by the mantra of populism.

Must be a lot of "social police" in WA

As you suggest absurd.

Yes and no, Mr Old.

Players all agreed to the terms of AFL hub and state quarantine rules as part of their continuing ability to travel Australia and play footy. They are high profile, highly paid professional sports people. Doesn't seem like a big ask, especially since no one can be 100% sure they haven't come into contact with the virus. He knew what he was doing, must've known it was wrong, got caught

I'd call it low risk, but certainly not no risk

I had forgotten they are supposed to be in quarantine on return. As for brains and high paid sportsmen they quite often don't go together.

Bit rough I say.

When the man downstairs starts talking.
He can talk forken loud and isn't easy to ignore.

Especially when you're 25yrs old and there's a bangin' babe knocking on the front door.

Keep in mind that not every other country has "internal states".

Nevertheless, ever since these cross-border lockdowns were introduced I've been waiting for Denis Denuto to take the case to the High Court to test the constitutionality of the matter. I guess in a way that's what Clive Palmer was doing...and he does seem like a character straight out of 'The Castle'.

Germany, UK (call them countries), India, Pakistan, USA, Canada, France (called regions) Malaysia, China (regions) Spain (regions) and the list goes on

Have no issue with risk based quarantine but to base it on arbitrary State/Region lines is not what anyone else in the world is doing

Including USA, Spain, UK, India and France doesn't really help the argument when you compare their infection numbers with Australia's.

The real issue, which I suspect we will both agree with, is whether there is cause and effect. That is, has closing State borders actually made any difference?

Gee our former players have been naughty. Watts leaving the scene of  a car crash, Harley ending up in hospital, breaching covid and now Jesse.

Could this latest indiscretion be the final straw for Jesse at Freo and perhaps see him be a little cheaper on the market? (Both serious and a little tongue in cheek ?)

Love the new emoji!!

Somewhat disingenuous. Not all countries have the same systems of internal governance, nor for that matter the same geographies or travel infrastructure.

France (called regions)

I'm in France. Unlike the States in Oz, the Regions here have zero statutory or legislative power. They couldn't enforce border controls even if they wanted - though there are no regional borders anyway, except for a "Welcome to" sign alongside the autoroute. The Regions basically run the education system locally, build roads and public transport infrastructure, contribute to culture and tourism, but that's about it. Apart from that, they're largely symbolic: if you want to get on politically in France you run for mayor, you don't go into the Region.

For his trouble he is now locked in quarantine in a hotel room under security surveillance for the next 14 days. W.A. government really want to make a point.

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
