Thankfully those days are over.  Just today it was reported that recruits spent the first month living with a senior player, went to Alice on a camp together (again with club leaders) and will live together for 3 weeks in Kooyong as part of their induction to the club.  They will learn early what is required of them and importantly given the internal relationships to support them now and as they develop.

Yes LH..   my post wasn't aimed at the current Footy management...  and club Management.  Which I think is doing a ballsy job, so far.

Might alert @Flag Favourites 3019so that he can change.

Film yourself acting them out and post the video.

I like a good game of charades.

It would have to beat what the riddler put out last year.

This is the first I’ve visited D-Land for a while and it’s fascinating to see that there’s still so much interest in Jesse. I had a couple of days feeling a bit unsure of whether it was a good thing or a bad thing, good trade vs bad trade, but now he’s just another opposition player now.

Mike Sheehan was more than happy for Jesse to go, said he would straight swap May for Hogan in a heartbeat not to mention KK and picks.

I thought he was crazy at the time but I'd suggest he had very good mail OD

Maybe he just had a really bad ice-cream headache?

Well, snorting ice cream will do that...

Happy we didn't go for Dan Hannebury. He's just done his hammy... or rather, has had scans after "hamstring awareness". His body is shot, it would appear.

I don't get it. Do you guys mean that this can give you a brain freeze?

Afraid so. It means - especially in the case of Coco pops - a disposition to just keep indulging in sugar. No wonder we allowed him to seek sweeter pastures. MFC,-11, let this be a warning to you. Do plain simple porridge for breakfast. You DO NOT, repeat, YOU DO NOT want to end up comatose under a table in an ice cream parlour. Be warned.

absolutely brilliant!

Some pretty ordinary photos doing the rounds of social media showing Jesse’s off-season ‘training’. It should be pretty clear to all why we weren’t desperate to keep him.

he is a kid who is entitled to a good time, but there is a enough evidence out there for people to paint a picture of why the MFC decided to move on Hogan.

The previous comments about the FD being 'happy' to let Hogan go are correct.

Yes, inside information from top level at the Club.

I have no “inside info” at all to base my comments on, yet I can fully understand from Godwin’s perspective that if Hogan could not commit long term to the MFC, then he had to go. However to insinuate that there were other reasons for trading him would fly in the face of comments Goodwin made before the trade period that “ Jesse loves Melbourne and Melbourne loves Jesse. He’s going nowhere”. I just don’t think Goodwin is the type of guy to not call a spade a spade. But like I said, I don’t have any inside info to back this up.

whatever the story really is, and despite the fact that he is playing for Freo, I hope he is now content and is able to reach the full potential of his abilities - just not against us.

What do these photos show? Is it just the one of him laying on the ground that was posted earlier in this thread, or is there more?

Hes not our problem anymore regardless, and I wish him well. He’s been through a lot for someone his age and I dare say most of us wouldn’t have handled it so well if we were in his position.

You don’t seriously believe that a Coach would can a guy in the media when they are either keeping him, or hoping to trade him, do you?

If you do, I have a clapped out piece of crap car that you might like to buy.

Yes, this was seemingly the saga that was always going to give a level of speculation to the Media and the AFL that would be continuously spotlighted to the detriment of the player and the Club that just wanted to get on with it.

Hogan will grow up, Melbourne HAS grown up. Myself,  i will be really interested in watching "how he plays"......and us without "HIM"

Of course not Redleg.  I just wouldn’t have expected such an emphatic statement to have come from Goodwin, given the straight shooter he is, if the opposite were true.

If there were other issues, I would have expected rumours to that effect to have emerged long before the trade period. While there has always been rumours about him going back to WA, I’ve certainly never heard of any other issues.  Clubs are generally not good at keeping secrets on behaviour issues for long periods.

Well, the opposite was true. Hogan was going somewhere: to Fremantle.

There are a number of photos doing the rounds on social media. The one posted here is tame. Personally I have nothing against Hogan choosing the life he wants.  But i really dislike the [censored] who snap a shot of him and post it online triumphantly.

Check the two finals we played and won without him and the last two H&A games that we had to win to play finals. that'll give you some idea of how we play without him

I know full well Jnr what my eyes and my heart told me and it was scintillating. What i meant more was how they are going to cope and we have "darling buds" blooming around...........

Well we don't leak like a sieve anymore. He was not traded just because he was happy to go home. You can back that in.

You may be right. I’m not going to argue the point simply because I don’t know. I’d just be surprised if that were true. Anyway, merry Christmas.

Problem is too many posters believe all the crap we hear. No one should ever take seriously any comments coming from club officials on delicate topics. They are protecting the club but is not ours to blindly accept untruths. The media won’t ask leading and probing questions if they don’t smell a rat. Merry Christmas.

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.
