So sounds like we will end up doing the following;

OUT: Hogan, one of picks 46 or 54

IN: May, KK, one of picks 18, 23 or 30

Fingers crossed it's pick 54 out and pick 18 in.

Who's got pick 53, and how do we get our hands on that little gem???

This whole trade period has become a farce!!

Deliberately holding back announcing deals for Foxtel is ludicrous.  Not one deal of significance has gone thru.  Pending:

  • Shiel
  • Wingard
  • Scully
  • Lobb
  • Kelly
  • Beams
  • Neale
  • Hogan
  • May

That is a lot to get done in a few hours.

Wouldn't be surprised if they start filming at Noon to make sure the paperwork is done in time.  Then edit it down to a few hours to make it 'interesting and to look 'live' but delay putting it to air.

While I'm doubtful the AFL would think this is a rating event worth boosting, if they did do that, I expect it would be simpler for them to announce an extra x hours for the paperwork.  Keeping to their rules is not a feature of the AFL.

Hawthorn.

We only need that pick when there is a McDonald available at that pick anyway ?

No, my remark about ExitTheDragon was a suggestion not planned action on my part.  But interesting that you assume my little joke was directed at you and not the general fugazi.

After all, ETD/Stuie is all about ETD/Stuie

" Port Adelaide – which hold picks 6 and 10 – and Adelaide (8 and 13) were both working on ways...to acquire pick five".

So who will end up holding pick 5:  Lions, Freo, Demons, Suns, Port, Crows?

I wouldn't put it past Freo to trade Neale for #5 + something (mooted to be a Coll 1st round pick for Beams), then cash in #5 with Crows/Power or keep it for themselves.

Freo can't lose:  Get Hogan on the cheap by offering a lower round 1 pick from the SA club (plus something) or take the SA picks to the draft.

I had a pint last week at my local, it was quite refreshing.

I feel like we have the same local.

So you reckon Mahoney's big coup for the trade period was Preuss (A VFL ruckman) and KK (a bloke who has played little football in several seasons). If that is all that we were in to, then we are sitting on our hands. Seeing hawthorn once again top up their list with QUALITY and Geelong adding Gary Rohan and Luke Dalhaus, makes me concerned about sides who finished around us doing more than we are o improve their lists. I fear that many hear just think AFL success is a natural progression and that we have the list to succeed because we made it to a Prelim and next year we will be better. If you dont continually improve your list, you are treading water or going backwards.

What we have built thus far will hold us in good stead. However, there has been a departure of depth at the MFC and at this stage, as it sits right now, today, the 16th of October, we have landed one player...Braydon Preuss. Mahoney surely wasn't talking about him when he made comments last week.

Keep in mind, though, that Hawthorn and the Cats have aging lists, all they've done is supplement their here and now deficiencies, while the Demoon List, apart from Jones and Lewis, is young and full of promise. I understand that Mahoney and his crew saw that what we need is a ready made back up for Gawn, another classy, tough proven backman and another running defender. Why would he need to tinker more?

I think his point is that loyalty on both ends doesn’t exist as much as it once did. If we are happy to shop players around as pieces of commodities isn’t it fair that the players do the same when they may get the best value for themselves?

I get the point!  However I am damn annoyed with Hogan’s attitude to the club who gave him so much.

And we could get completely shafted. It may be a better idea to keep Hogan for 2019 and go after the flag...

Bewdy Newk. Another day like today and yesterday and the day before that and so on. I'm starting to grow tired of the alerts from the  AFL. Eagerly open the story hoping it could be all done and dusted only to find it's about Knackers McSpackers who hasn't played for 14 months due to a boil lancing gone wrong, leaving Gold Coast for Port Adelaide or someone for pick 98. Oh the humanity.

Is it fact it was a guess

Or just a guess in fact

If in fact a fact

I guess the guess is fact

But if in fact a guess then the guess is pretty fact !!

Neale deal wil be done, Hogan will be done and May will be a Dee.

Port will be involved in these deals and we will be getting pick 6 and not 5.  Not sure what the sweeteners are

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.
