On the final siren site they said that Luke Parker could be part of the equation.

Of the two picks we get for hogan one goes to the suns for May and the other goes to Sydney along with Vanders for Parker.

What's the final siren?

I thought that too, but the tone of today seemed more stand offish. I still expect them to ask for more than that. Whether it's an extra pick in the 20-30 mark I don't know. Look at the Gibbs trade. 10 & 17 for Gibbs and a 2nd and 3rd coming back. Could be something comparable.

yeah well they are going to play their cards close to their chest aren't they but ultimately they will want to clear their decks of may

Touring the facilities is generally a sign that you're going to ask for a trade.  Outside of Dusty a few years back, have many other players gotten down the path of touring another club before re-signing?  I'm sure it has happened, but it wouldn't be a regular occurrence.

Sad to see him there, though.

Lin Jong?

I’ve heard we’ve asked for Hayden Ballantyne thrown into the package.

LMAO at those three very intelligent posters who took this seriously ?

My view is we will have an outcome in mind.  If we get the outcome we'll do the trade and if not we won't.  There's nothing wrong with either of your outcomes if that's what the FD is trying to achieve.

What we don't want is two first round draft picks and no Hogan and not being able to use those draft picks for players we need.  We'll only do the Hogan trade if we know we can get what we want.

So your educated guess is that the outcome we will want is a pick we can use on May and perhaps a player such as another A. Brayshaw ?  Or Cerra ?

Not a particularly memorable stat... I honestly can’t remember the last time Oliver or Brayshaw did either.

I can remember when he kicked 47 goals from 20 matches, won 36 free kicks whilst giving away only 16, pulled in 125 marks and 365 disposals all while averaging over 2 tackles a game as a key position forward.

If he goes and all we get in return is May, it’s a massive failure as far as I am concerned. We hold the cards and this would be a fold.

We are losing a number of depth players in addition and the landscape of the best 22 is shifting. The key to the success last year is that when a player went down we had plenty of capable players stepping up. We would sure as hell want to get some talent in and just securing May in exchange for Hogan won’t facilitate that.

I'm in a heightened state of emotional gullibility today with my dearest full forward touring other clubs facilities. Give me a break!

Why you and others don't have faith in Mahoney, Taylor, Viney, and co. is beyond me.

Yep, he did.  A few others mentioned it earlier as well.  Definitely one I missed.

But there aren't too many more examples outside of Lin Jong and Dusty who have gone through with the tour and then stayed at their respective clubs.  Doesn't mean it won't happen, but going by that you would assume Jesse is 95% out the door.

It's really not that crazy. Recent history tells us we can expect two first rounders but not two top 10 picks in the same draft for Hogan alone.

The Treloar and Lever trades are the most recent examples I would be inclined to use as a precedent - a top 10 pick + a future first rounder and an exchange of later draft selections.

In the event that JH requests a trade there will be elements to a deal that will be completely unpredictable, despite all the speculation in the world from journos and fans alike.

The thing is the media have just kept on the same c#*& all week, and we still not any closer to knowing what the outcome is going to be?

I don't want to lose Jesse, but if he wants to return home after what he has gone through then i can understand, and move on, i just wants what best for the club and of course that's going on to win a flag.

I must admit although i know who May is, i don't know what type of player he is and if he is worth all this trouble, however in saying that reading comments on here from different people who have watched him say he is worth the pick 5? I just think Jesse is worth two picks as well, and i don't want us to finish up just giving him away for just one pick.

Not knowing drives me crazy i just want it to be done.

There's having faith in the list management team and there's expecting a fair price, not mutually exclusive.

I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned Ryan O'Keefe.

Wanted to leave Sydney, was out the door but they couldn't agree on a trade, ended up staying and went on to win the Norm & a Premiership.

Not everything is black & white...but we do hold the cards.

No lack of faith, he was just saying what would be a bad deal in his view. He didn't say they club would accept that and so he's heading towards the microwave with membership card in hand.    I expect the blokes above would agree with L-36's comment.

Sure, but if you saw the post I quoted, and I assume you did, there's an inherent lack of trust or faith that the outcomes will be satisfactory.

Why you and others seemingly feel this way is beyond me.

Toumpas was far better than Wines any day of the week.

Just misunderstood

I thought I was prepared to say goodbye but seeing Jesse hogan touring freo’s facilities makes me feel like a jealous ex lover.

Or you could try making a post with half of the football knowledge he has...

Yes.  I’ll keep Jesse if he wants to stay. But if his life is better with family in the Wild West than we all move out.

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.
