We at least need to get above Carlton.

Must say, I'm a little suprised to see GWS now have more members than Brisbane as for a long time GWS had figures more like the Suns.  Could easily change if the on-feild fortunes of these sides respectively change.

Yeah LDC, it's all a bit confusing for the filth. Mum and dad buy a family membership but they don't really know how many sprogs they have. Then son and daughter who happen to be married ( usually to each other) buy another one. Then someone gets locked up for doing burgs to pay for the memberships. Very confusing.

Do the filth have a special prisoner category membership - limited games but you still get a beanie with a face mask?

They have a $950 membership package which includes a 5 min dental check-up (1 min per tooth) and a tatt of a cartoon magpie

Interesting that back in October I was going to upgrade my membership to Redleg or Tridents but they were full. So no choice but to stay with a standard membership.

I might add that when I mentioned this to Mrs OD she said just as well we are away for six weeks next footy season. After checking I will miss three home games so I guess the MFC saved me.

However it does raise the issue that only GA memberships are available from October forward.

Will GA prices start rising for the 2020 season?

Interestingly I rang the club yesterday to enquire about the prices for GFG. Was told that I wouldn't get the packages relating to seating on level 2 and was recommended Demons seats plus. No mention of them being sold out so I sent the Cheque off today.

I had a Redlegs wait listed seating request which couldn't be accommodated but was offered seats in new membership categories.  Those with existing wait list seating requests get first option on these and then they go on sale to the public.

New releases:

Trident Open Air – Bay P12 -  Premium Reserved Seating on Level 2A of the Great Southern Stand on the wing.
Redlegs Open Air - Bay P9 - Premium Reserved Seating on Level 2A of the Great Southern Stand in the pocket.

You might try contacting the club and ask if you can still upgrade to one of these new categories .

As an aside, Membership now 30,891

Has anyone had their membership pack delivered yet? I upgraded to Demon Seat plus in mid October and haven’t received a thing.

Nope, haven’t received my membership yet. They said before Xmas, so expect to get it within the next few working days.

Nope still waiting.

Interestingly I don't usually buy into the hype..."if you don't sign up you'll lose your seat", and for the past 10 or so years have signed up 1 month before the season starts......this year however, don't wanna lose my seat, signed up beginning Nov.

Times are changing

I believe details were sent to 'mailing house' this week so should be received next week, if aussie post has its act together.

As an aside, based on the chat in this thread and the release of new Trident and Redleg memberships, lots of members have upgraded or added features (eg reserved seat, GFG).  That is great news:  not only have no. of members increased the average spend per membership is increasing.  So a nice 'extra' impact on club revenues.

That’s a mighty big IF...

I had the same issue LDC. The problem is the MCC wants your money and will then pass it on to the footy club. I don't know why the MCC is being difficult but it's been this way the last two years.

The simplest thing is to pay your football club membership when you renew the MCC in August but it's a huge whack on the bank balance. The club will send you to the MCC to renew.

Short-term money market investments with the pool of funds, then split the MFC entitlement in full in a few days, MCC retention of the profit-taking.

Thanks for info LH. Actually worked out I will be away for 4 homes matches next year so I will stay with GA membership.

Just got an sms from club stating memberships are with Aus Post, hopefully Monday or Tuesday then? ??

I believe that "the Guests of Her Majesty" would be their largest membership category. They also have a innovative method of membership payment " Someone else's credit card"

Did anyone that renewed early get the opportunity to have their cards customised? Players pics weren’t available yet back in October, just wondering if they are available now.

Yes, I upgraded to a Dedicated Demon and was able to request Maxy on a card. I requested it for a new membership too, not my one, because she loves the big fella, the club had no issues doing it. ??

31,759.  Worth noting that it took till mid Feb to reach a similar level this year.

That is 2,700 (8.50% up on the Dec 22, 2017 count).

As and aside, received sms from club today saying my membership packs are with aussie post, so should arrive any day now!

I got an sms from club today but I think early in the new year will be a more realistic time of arrival. Hope my card is with the pack.

Lord has arrived.

Mrs Worship is a little peeved her Gussy hasn't appeared yet, even though they were purchased at the same time.

Actually it's unusual for her to be only a little peeved.

It's a real problem when the Mrs' "little gussy" goes into hiding.

MELBOURNE

As it stands: 30,891

2018 haul: 44,275 (record)

If you weren’t already excited by what Melbourne achieved in 2018, then their work during the trade period should have provided another boost. They added star defender Steven May to a backline that will include Jake Lever at some point next year, along with 2013 Pick 5 Kade Kolodjashnij and ruck security in Braydon Preuss. And then they have one of, if not the best engine rooms in the AFL.

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

As the focus of the AFL moves exclusively to South Australia for Gather Round, the question is raised as to what are we going to get from the  Melbourne Football Club this weekend? Will it be a repeat of the slop fest of the last three weeks that have seen the team score a measly 174 points and concede 310 or will a return to the City of Churches and the scene where they performed at their best in 2024 act as a wakeup call and bring them out of their early season reverie?  Or will the sleepy Dees treat their fans to a reenactment of their lazy effort from the first Gather Round of two years ago when they allowed the Bombers to trample all over them on a soggy and wet Adelaide Oval? The two examples from above tell us how fickle form can be in football. Last year, a committed group of players turned up in Adelaide with a businesslike mindset. They had a plan, went in confidently and hard for the football and kicked winning scores against both home teams in a difficult environment for visitors. And they repeated that sort of effort later in the season when they played Essendon at the MCG.

  • PREGAME: Essendon

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 05

Gather Round is here, kicking off with a Thursday night blockbuster as Adelaide faces Geelong. The Crows will be out for redemption after a controversial loss last week. Saturday starts with the Magpies taking on the Swans. Collingwood will be eager to cement their spot in the top eight, while Sydney is hot on their heels. In the Barossa Valley, two rising sides go head-to-head in a fascinating battle to prove they're the real deal. Later, Carlton and West Coast face off at Adelaide Oval, both desperate to notch their first win of the season. The action then shifts to Norwood, where the undefeated Lions will aim to keep their streak alive against the Bulldogs. Sunday’s games begin in the Barossa with Richmond up against Fremantle. In Norwood, the Saints will be looking to take a scalp when they come up against the Giants. The round concludes with a fiery rematch of last year's semi-final, as the Hawks seek revenge for their narrow loss to Port Adelaide. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

  • CASEY: Geelong

There was a time in the second quarter of the game at the Cattery on Friday afternoon when the Casey Demons threatened to take the game apart against the Cats. The Demons had been well on top early but were struggling to convert their ascendancy over the ground until Tom Fullarton’s burst of three goals in the space of eight minutes on the way to a five goal haul and his best game for the club since arriving from Brisbane at the end of 2023. He was leading, marking and otherwise giving his opponents a merry dance as Casey grabbed a three goal lead in the blink of an eye. Fullarton has now kicked ten goals in Casey’s three matches and, with Melbourne’s forward conversion woes, he is definitely in with a chance to get his first game with the club in next week’s Gather Round in Adelaide. Despite the tall forward’s efforts - he finished with 19 disposals and eight marks and had four hit outs as back up to Will Verrall in the second half - it wasn’t enough as Geelong reigned in the lead through persistent attacks and eventually clawed their way to the lead early in the last and held it till they achieved the end aim of victory.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?
