Dumbest post of the year, unless tongue in cheek

I don't think tongue-in-cheek does it justice, ChookF.

In your case, I think its more a 'Merv Hughes tongue', in  ChookF's  ear. ?

Joel Smith a possibility, against the tall eagles forwards.

I'd like to see another med small who can take LeCras so Jetts can take the other small.

Our defence balance will be interesting.

Last night I was concerned about Tyson being caught out in defence... and his run speed, and his disposals.

I think looking forward, and after some good games last couple of weeks... i saw again his limitations.  troubling going forward ?

Gawn has been resting down back...he'll take him

Also, I think Fritsch at worst, is on the bench... not out of the side.

He can play either end and wing, and is skilled, and a goal kicker.  We need as much ability, as we can fit in.

I thought Tyson played on Smith? Might be wrong.

Tyson’s biggest problem is he doesn’t take the first option and then gets himself into trouble.

No no change for me.

His positive/negative ratio out weighs other players on the fringe it seems. Just as an aside, hearing him talk in the media has shown me that he does have a mature head on him, so perhaps that is one element of his continued selection, having a mid who understands his role and where to run and position himself under different circumstances. Whereas other players in vfl are more raw and more likely to have a team crippling critical error ridden match at this stage.

Tyson has had a pretty good back end to the season for me, so I don't think they will drop him after a quiet-ish game.

No unforced changes.

Apart from injury why would you think of a change to our  side when they have won their two finals by an average of 5 goals plus.

Our boys are pumped.

Reckon Spargo is due for a rest. Looks tired.

Shocking post. They should do a miniature Charlie Spargo doll you can clip on your key ring for good luck. I would buy a half dozen of them.

He's our lucky charm.

Nup no change. This team has won us 2 finals. Don't change a winning term as much as I love Bernie.

Also a note to the AFL. Is it possible to give us the 3 umpires that we had for our last encounter against WC in Perth a few weeks ago. They were pretty good and didn't get sucked in by the home crowd.

If that isn't possible then just don't give us Nicholls. Thank you.

Everyone calling for no change please put forward who is playing on Kennedy, Vardy and Darling. It is clear to me watching the VFL today that Joel Smith plays. Offers so much versatility against the Eagles front 6 and is hard and fast. Tyson the unlucky player to miss as this will shuffle Fritsch up to the wing.

Watched the game again, people being awfully harsh on tyson. he was involved in a few goals and usually used the ball well. also created space at times which is never touched on. A couple of skill errors yes, but so did everyone else in a game like that. No chance unless injury (sorry bernie)

Have we reverted to the 1990s when the least important players were on the bench and hardly played? Today's game is so different that starting on the bench doesn't make anyone blink. One of our Captains started on the bench on Friday night.

If there are no injuries, I suspect no change to the winning formula but if we do that we risk being undersized in the backline. Joel Smith might come in for that reason but there's no obvious person for him to replace. My fear is that we'll be forced to move T Mac to defence and rely on Weideman and occasionally Gawn to be the tall forwards.

Tyson I feel is struggling. People call to rest Spargo yet overlook Tyson, who lacks peripheral vision and ignores the first option as a result, believing he has more time than he does. This has stood out quite a bit in the past two games. I counted three Hawthorn goals on Friday that came moments after Tyson had possession. That may seem nitpicky but there is a theme. He gives off hospital handpasses and is a poor man's Nathan Jones. IMO Vince brings with him better vision and defensive accountability, and he also plays a better run-with role. He is also much better in the air and at ground level, which will be vital against the Eagles.

I just don't see Tyson's game that way at all in recent weeks.  He wins contested ball and tries hard to give a creative handball when tackled not just dump it.  He's been able to get this hands free and has not been caught holding the ball like he was earlier in the year.

He didn't get much of it vs Hawthorn but I don't know if he had a role.

I can see the argument for J.Smith and Tyson is on the fringe.

I didn't think we played all that well vs Hawthorn and change may be warranted.

I like JKH's recent work but he could only come in for Tyson too and I only see a marginal difference.

There's no one else in the frame for consideration.

No change is a quite possible.

It is good we won the VFL PF, it would be good to win that flag and it gives those players another hit out ahead of the AFL GF if we can make it.

Agree, I thought Charlie needed a break this week but he proved me wrong, he did that was asked of him, he’s an 18 year old kid, when he matures he’s going to be a very good player. Just watched Casey, Bernie Vince was good, probably only played 70% of game got 22 with 13 of them contested, he should come in for Tyson who’s been average for a midfielder, also wouldn’t mind Jeffy in for ANB but that won’t happen

Ludicrous suggestion

Frost, Omac and Gawn. Hibberd in a pinch. They aren't going to bring in a flaky Joel Smith and move Fritsch out of a position that has been working just to cover Nathan Vardy for 5 minutes a quarter. We'll be fine.

I feel no change, unless we have to bring in another defender, but what ever happens , Tyson's days are numbered, he just can't play with the intensity that Goody requires, I feel for him as he did a lot over heavy lifting for us in the Roos era. To the blues for a 2nd round pick.

No change unless in case no-one noticed Salem grabbed at his hammy late in the 3rd but played out the game. I anxiously await his medical report. remember Melk tweeked a hammy against Adelaide and played out the game then missed 3 weeks.

Tysons last quarter was great, leave him alone and remember he still cannot pick up any weight with that broken arm, so for him to be playing is a testimony to his determination. Go back and watch the replay and you will see Fritsch made a lot of poor decisions and was a bit off especially under pressure in the 2nd quarter. Played on when didn't need to, turned it over and in the third look how he misjudged and overran the ball that let Gunston run onto a loose ball in the third. Be grateful Gunston lairised and hit the post.

Someone is going to miss out on a Casey GF next week and possibly an AFL GF the following week; we will take an extra over to Perth one would think.

    TRAINING: Wednesday 19th February 2025

Demonlander The Analyser was the sole Trackwatcher out at Casey Fields today to bring you the following observations from this mornings preseason training session. Training  was at Casey today. It consisted of a match simulation for one half  and then a free choice activity time. Activities included kicking for goal,  aerial , contest work etc. I noticed the following players not in match simulation Jack Viney  running laps and looks fine for round one . I think Kolt looks like he’s im

Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
