Think how irritating it will be when he starts drooling over our emerging MFC stars in future.  Cringeworthy.

He's already done it with his Viney ! Viney !!! Viiiiiiiiiiiiney !!!!!! effort.

You sometimes want to give him a slap, but I'll let that one slide.

Viney, Jones... whats not to like? You must be a huge fan of yourself!

Fan of myself just because I have a different view, gee at least I can say they had did alright so don't be a [censored] sunshine!!!!

Just realised that when Gunston hit the post from 10 metres or whatever that he was only one second or so away from being crunched by Viney. No wonder he missed!

At times during the call, he called "Sahrlem" as you said, but also "Slahlom" at one point.

I also get turned off by his ott growling voice @bingers when something exciting happens... that and his constant need for positive feedback... "Didnt he"?, "Wasnt it"?, etc etc. One of the best sporting brains in the world statistics wise, but his days as a caller have passed him by.

Must retire from calling soon or more people will listen to radio while watching TV.

Yeah, without that big chase from Viney Gunston would've bounced and walked into open goal...

Truely a 1%er that was game changing from our fearless leader!

Then there were 2 massive chases in the game because I thought Hibberd's chase on Gunston to deny him the soccer goal earlier was a significant moment in the match.

Id love to know now what the "joke" was that Roughead told the huddle just before the start?

Nice set-up for the jokers on here but in all seriousness I think he would have been reminding the Hawks that last time the Melbourne Football Club made it to a prelim our current starting midfield were still watching Barney the Dinosaur and wetting the bed . . .

Poppy .... roughie .... what a fool.

His demented growling is the worst. "Viney viney Viney" (in stupid growling voice) after he did brilliantly to kick it to the hot spot. (Brayshaw marked and goaled.)

I'm sorry. The cringiest piece of commentary for the weekend goes to Luke Darcy when De Goey took a mark. He sounded like a constipated nuffy. "De Gooooooooeeeeeeeeeeyyy!!!!!"

I'm cringing just thinking about it.

Darcy makes BT sound like a half decent caller.

I actually didn't mind the Viney call. I'd argue it's spine tingling. Darcy just sounds like a try hard though when he did it.

Last time I spoke to him he really laid into Melbourne as being soft. Should run into him again soon so I shall just smile - widely.

To bad for us, Bruce is commentating the cricket now.

He wasn’t wrong, we were soft for years. I think Hawthorn played ahead of themselves this year and will go backwards next season.

Some chat about Oliver being "looked at" for flopping. I was there but didn't see it. Any thoughts?

More chance of Poppy or Sicily or someone else (can't remember who it was) getting done for staging

Lmao, I distinctively remember that piece of commentary also. It’s like he was still yelling out his name whilst he was lining up ?

Next time you see him, give him a punch in the nads from the people of Victoria

Bruce is simply embarrassing. The first rule of a good commentator is that its not about themselves. Its about calling the game properly. We can all see whats going on. Stop being a fawning sychophant.

Better still. Times up. Retire now.

Unfortunately my night was marred by racist remarks directed at Salem and Jetta by a group of Hawthorn fans in Q1. Left me feeling down for the remainder of the match, but it was a great win by the boys. Go Dees

That from 'supporters' of the team carried by Burgoyne and Rioli for so long.

Hypocrites.

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.
