Richmond's style of play and the components required to enact that style of play is going to be hard to conquer ... especially now that they have got the fortnight's rest.

The Tigers ability to flood forward to create a scoring opportunity and/or then hold the ball in their own forward line using players with amp'd up leg speed is extemely effectice

We can sort of do the same occasionally but the 'new' footy that Richmond play is not easily copied.

The good news is that we can only potentially match-up against Richmond in a GF this season and then of course anything can happen on the day.

Just saw Rance v Puopolo...

It blows my mind that Rance is still lauded as an upstanding citizen by commentators who are watching his games LIVE - when there is plenty of video evidence to the contrary, on just about a weekly basis.

If his name was Mitch Robinson or Hayden Ballentyne etc etc etc...

The key game is tonight’s big clash at Optus Stadium. A win for Collingwood ensures that we won’t have to travel interstate should we progress through next week and means that the Tigers get to meet the remaining interstate challenger in the preliminary final.

This might sound a sacrilege but it makes it almost worthwhile for us to ... er, shock, horror ... hope for a Collingwood victory. ?

That said, Melbourne has shown this year that interstate travel and hostile crowds hold no fear for this team.

Must say that I tend to agree simply because I think WCE can take Richmond out in the preliminary.

Long way to go but fingers crossed.

The Sydney Derby is strangely irrelevant. Will barrack for the Swans simply because I fear a resurgent GWS as they get their stars back.

Never thought I would say this but Comon the Pies!!

Looking forward to this thread a little later on. Hoping Nicholls is BOG for the Pies.

Do I really have to barrack for C'wood.......  uuggghh.?

I'm heading to Optus tonight with my eldest whose a Pie and a couple of my Meth Coast mates. No doubt who I'll be cheering for despite a Meth Coast win and us rolling the Hawks would enable me to get to the prelim

Half time between Richmond and Essendon in the VFL ... 34-27 with Essendon leading

Great finish to that one. Richmond out in straight sets.

I started watching the replay of last night at 1:30pm today knowing it would end easily by the time today’s game started. I am only just at the start of the 3rd quarter due to the number of times I’ve had to rewind plays over and over again!

Oh oh, Josh Kelly limping badly off the field.

What idiot signed off on these two guernseys? Can barely tell burnt orange and red apart on the AFL app (albeit lower quality than watching on TV). Shouldn't the Giants be wearing their white away strip?

Nice work by Phil Davis getting the F-bomb into his half time interview.

It is hard to watch games of footy from the SCG. It is not the right size for footy.

It's partly the camera angle on TV.  Main camera is too low.

Better than those drone/Ariel shots from our game last night.  Nice ideas but poor quality.

I’m at the game (if you could call it that)... I can’t recall being at a more boring game. Nothing like finals footy... where’s the frenetic pace, where’s the risk taking?  If Buddy doesn’t wake up soon, the Swans season is over.

Many GWS supporters there?

  • AFLW PREVIEW: St. Kilda

The Demons return to Casey Fields (aka the Field of Dreams) this Saturday to host the Saints in Round 2. If you’re feeling lucky, head down the Monash for some family-friendly footy—you might even walk away a winner. The first 5,000 adults through the gate will receive an entry into the $10,000 helicopter ball drop. With Casey’s infamous wind, what could possibly go wrong? Closest ball to the pin wins. So spread the word, get down there—and good luck!

  • PREVIEW: Collingwood

Way back in March we contemplated the possibility of a Demon resurgence after Simon Goodwin’s summer of love. Many issues at the club had seemingly been addressed, key players were returning from injury and a brand new day was about to dawn. We imagined the coach pulling a rabbit out of a hat. The team would roar up the charts, push aside every opponent and make its way to a Grand Final ending in ultimate triumph with Goody and Max holding the premiership cup aloft under a shower of red and blue ticker tape.
