Last final I attended.

Haven't seen a finals win since 2002. Grandmother passed away night before Saints game in 06 so I missed that.

Cats absolutely destroyed us that day. Even without the injuries it was no contest. If not for Nick Davis the following week, Geelong would have probably won the flag that year.

Awful sound like a coconut cracking, it happened directly in front of me. A bizarre non report if ever I saw one. Times have changed!

I thought King was in the action of kicking and Whitey tried to smother, got the boot in his face as his arms were outstretched???

Wasn’t it a rucking contest?

What a dark day that was. Was there with my Cats supporting brother in Level 1 in the Olympic I think and can't really remember much of the game apart from White getting fly kicked by King  and having to get up for people continuously walking past. When doing so after the umpteenth time I accidentally knocked the seat in front of me (wasn't a heck of a lot of space with those old red seats) and the guy in front of me told me off. Was a Dees fan too and the game was dead by then. Terrible day in the memory.

Much better to remember the saints game the following year.

remember the G train running back to full forward during the third quarter. Got a great big roar, but didn’t get a near the pill for the rest of the game.

Go Dees  we will win   6 goals I think

I was there, and though I've done my best to block the day out I seem to recall that it was straight after White and King had engaged in a ruck contest. Neither won the ball, and White bent down bravely to get it, while King just threw his boot at the general area of the ball.

Nailed White so bad I though he'd be disfigured forever. The most sickening injury I've seen, and I saw Nathan Brown break his leg.

That's how I remember it too @Chook - I was in the middle of the Geelong Cheersquad too... even they had their hands up to their own jaws rubbing them after the replay(s)

On a side note, didn't Neitz break his jaw on 'both' sides against West Coast one year?

If it's the incident I'm thinking of, he brought it on himself. It was a top-of-the-ladder clash between them and us at the G in 05/ or 06(?), and we were losing but gamely trying to get back in it. Cue Neitz lining up some West Coast schmuck. Nailed him, but got himself even worse. I don't think either player played for the rest of the day.

I'd say West Coast won that exchange, and the game too.

Ah that's the day Bomber Thompson joked about Jeff White getting his head in the way of Steven Kings boot after he had his faced caved in... fair to say from that moment onwards Bomber was one of the stupidest and least likeable people involved with footy. His stupidity and poor attitude to life has since been confirmed by a myriad of personal problems... what a deadset turd of a human he is.

This was a poor day for the club. Barely gave a yelp. Hopefully next week is a far better result!

Remember Mooney dominating around the ground for them too.  Rocked up hoping we could emulate the miracle win at Kardinia Park that got us there, but the game looked over at quarter time. At least Robbo capped off his career year with 4.  Not much else to take from the game for Dees fans.

I think the Dees had spent their tickets getting to the finals in an epic run in.  We also lost Neita in the final round win over Essendon.

True. I can also remember being done by geelong in the 89 semi final by about 10 goals. I hate geelong.

Yes. That was a very spiteful game

Punches thrown off the ball everywhere

Same here :( I was 11 and just remember we didn't come close and the sound of kings foot connecting with whites face.

I’ll never forget White getting kicked in the face. Devastating.

Weve had some great ruckman across the journey, haven’t we?

Neita had bad luck with his jaw. Pretty sure he had it caved in by a Dockers player at the WACA in 97 as well.

The Demons’ aggressive small forward who kicks goals and defends the Demons’ ball in the forward arc.
