As an aside I wandered past Beamer in Noosa in April... he is ginormous!! He apparently can't do any weights any more as his back is stuff but he is a massive unit.

17 games for 48 goals. At that average he would have kicked 62 for the year, but you could argue he missed a couple of easier games in that 5 (North, Brisbane, Bombers).

I think there's a good chance Gysberts would make it if he arrived at the club now.  Development is a lot better and he could play.

I was one of the doubters regarding Goody and the mental toughness of our players after flying south to watch us lose to the Saints.

Completely unrelated to 2013, and aligned with the game yesterday; I was fast drawing the conclusion that the umpires should have a can of shaving cream to set the mark (like they do in the soccer for the 10m exclusion zone on free kicks). GWS were repeatedly standing back 2-3m for set shots and then running towards the goal kicker to put them off; and (it looked to me, at least) over the mark more than once. I was getting more and more irate.

I think they are all being instructed to creep the mark. Seems the umps arn't enforcing it too often.

I want to draw attention to Oscar Mac's first kick, the one that ended up in our opening goal. Precise, attacking, audacious, skimming just over a giant and into Jordan Lewis's hands. Deserves accolades. 

We have learnt how to win.
Have matured from last year with our ability to build our game towards the end of the season.
Have a good balance in our squad, all players are contributing and it appears all are playing their roles.
Loved the way we closed them down and our ability to stand up in tackles and/or get the hands free.
Our angles of attack confused them.
Our defensive structures work well except for our ability to defend the small kicks. We seemed to give them that area inside the circle we make around 40 meters when they had a mark or free. Though the coaches adjusted this.
They had problems breaking through our lines.
Jordan is leading by example. Weeds brings good flexibility to the squad. They need to get used to JKH's style (lack of cohension).
We can still work on our handballs (missed a few).
Could see GWS lose momentum when they missed the easy goals. That used to be us. Now we just get on with it for the  four quarters.
Harmes, Brayshaw, Gawn, Oliver, beautiful mid fielders.
Joy all round.

There's a few like that.  Olisik and Mr. White are others that come to mind.

It’s been noticeable for a few weeks. Not sure if it’s league wide, but it’s definitely been causing some of our players to panic a bit just before kicking it and getting right underneath it. I hope it gets looked at internally with our players to make sure they know where the mark is and I hope the umps are all over policing the mark strongly.

I've noted a few players doing the old scrape the mark(spot) with their boots...just to let everyone know they know where that line is.

I'm not sure if I'm in favour of marking the spot or not, but it would take no time for the ump when indicating the spot to also spray a dot. No need for a line.
