I really hope our poor kicking in front of goal doesn't cost us because we were all over them.

We should be at least 2 further goals in front.

Welcome to literally every match Melbourne has played this season.

West Coast went up a gear and we held firm.

It’s not exactly what you would call a skilled contest, but literally the only metric or factor I care about in this game is the scoreboard at the end.

These odd missed-handballs/kicks from ANB, Brayshaw, Harmes, and Tyson have killed us.

This. Harmes especially, even his handballs are hit and miss.

These boys will take time.

6 frees to 4 in favour of them that quarter and you'd think they had had none.

The crowd booed the umps off at half time. No wonder they I usually get the better of the umps in Perth.

Absolutely dominated the second half of that quarter. How Trac doesn't make the distance from 40 out amazes me. Need to start really putting scoreboard pressure on or else they will run over the top of us

Too close to the man on the mark.

Yet again we make poor decisions from a mark.

They missed some pretty easy chances early and we got our efficiency going, but at the end my god we missed some getable chances. Petracca, Weeds, Tyson all shanking fairly standard kicks (though Petracca just didn’t make the distance from 40m).

We MUST take our chances when they come, West Coast will come at us. I guarantee it.

To be fair... West coke misses a few easy set shots early in the quarter.

West Coast are missing their  top 3 players GC and one down on the bench early in the first

Pulsating first half of footy and we're in front.  At this point I can't complain, but the big test is still to come.

Kudos to Weideman who has played his best half of footy for the club.  Let's hope it continues in the second half.

Also, that free kick against Vanders that resulted in a Cripps goal is one of the worst I've seen given.  Absolute disgrace.

Decent half, expected a full West Coast onslaught that quarter and it might have happened if they kicked the first 3 shots. I thought we did a decent job to absorb the pressure and hang in there. Missed a few chances of our own, would have loved to have sobbed one or two more. We definitely need to be lethal with the quality F50 opportunities. Need more out of ANB and Spargo.

Weideman has impressed with his hands. Need to find a way to isolate T-Mac more and bring him into it.

Spargo and Kent just 6 disposals between them.

Simply not good enough.

Spargo is cooked. He needs a rest.

It is unbelievably loud any time they get a touch let alone a goal so you don't want them having a sniff at the end. Can hear a pin drop when we score.

Loving:

- Weids contested grabs

- Vanders contested play

- Tracs effort (but kick from further behind the mark)

- Gawny all round game

- Clarry. Enough said.

They are a special kind of stupid, hell they got the worst free kick (and a resulting goal) in the half from VandenBerg’s fantastic contest.

We're missing Hogan, Viney and Lever as well.  Evens it up a little.

Btw. If i have to hear the commentators mention "reward for effort" one more time I'll be sick.

They'll get more "reward" if they were to put more "effort" in practicing their skills under pressure.

Bloody snowflake society.

Kent hasn't played since Round 5....it's a long time out.  I'd be giving him this match and the next to find something

Is it too much to ask for a 6 goal unanswered blitz by us in the 3rd?

Composure inside 50, and clean up poor handballing =  we win.

Jones, Harmes, Petrace and Weideman all missing relatively easy shots on goal. Tyson, Harmes, Brayshaw all multpiple close-in handball errors stuffng up momentum.

Loving what Weideman and Harmes are bringing.

Not sure if ANB is crook. He was so steady and reliable for most of the season. His last few games have been poor.

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
