Great to see Hibberd there...

I guess the way i see it now is that we had 4 chances in 2 years to make the finals. Weve blown the first 2. 3rd time lucky coming up now......thats more chances than a lot of teams get. Lets go Dees......no time better than the present.

I guess that's part of the madness. We've had so... many... chances... over the last 3 seasons and we keep blowing our chances. We've made it a fine art! The players all talk the talk when it comes to wanting finals but never show up when they have the chance to lock it in!

2016: Blew our second last match against wooden spooners Carlton, didn't even show up the week after (could've made finals with both wins)

2017: Blew our chance to make finals in Round 23 against injury-riddled Collingwood

2018: Blew our chance to reach 13 wins against injury-riddled Sydney

2018: Opportunity to secure finals in round 22 v injury riddled Eagles... ?

2018: Opportunity to secure finals in round 23 v injury riddled Giants... ?

At least this year our superior percentage has given us a couple of bonus lives to end the year, but unsurprisingly we've already blown the first. It's long overdue this club stood up and delivered.

Just hope weids can do something good today

I hope he has 21 mates ;)

BT just said to Goodwin "Mark Weideman is in the side.."

How the [censored] do these idiots get a media gug ??

Harmes Oliver and Bradshaw are leading this club atm.

Guys like Jones and Lewis need to stand up. Last week they were pathetic and Jones has a lot of ground to make up to break the perennial loser tag.

That's usually my view of my scotch after the game. You must be really getting in early.

Amazed we are allowed to play our song before the game........

I had to check that I didn't have the NRL on when the Weagles ran out.

Great Bartel and BT commentating. They live sticking the knives in when down.

Goody loves to talk us up as galvanized, embracing the occasion etc before we actually are/have!

I don't recall Kent being dropped for awhile, seems to have only been omitted because of injury? Seems to have shown some x factor

He’s got a special skill for getting a serious injury right when he would have been dropped anyway - that happened last  year with the shoulder and this year with the hammy.

The continual stretch of injuries is a big enough concern on its own.

Time for Goodwin so actually show something when it counts, words are cheap and getting tiresome, so far a spin master.

My mates flew over for the game. $65 for seats with restricted view. They paid $130 for each seat (unrestricted). Heaven know what they'll be charging for a finals seat.

Yes his game against the Hawks saw him kick 3 goals in the opening term and one of the few players to push back physically and take no nonsense against their bullying efforts (which in my opinion worked...and which others have done since...eg., Buddy last week on Fritschkreig....no one flew the flag back at him so it's still a worry!).

Was looking ok before doing a hammy mid way through the match against the Tiges the following week.  Personally from a physical / fight point of view, against tougher opponents i would have him in before the likes of Hannan/Jeffy (if we needed to choose) every time.

Oh gee Stirling idea. Can’t believe I didn’t think of it more than 5 mins before the bounce.

Last week against the Swans, potentially season defining match on the line, he had a major opportunity to stoke the fire during the half time break, keep them in the rooms and give them a huge pep talk.  Fire them the [censored] up for a huge premiership quarter!  Have them bust out onto the ground late just before the siren with the home crowd also firing them up on the way out the race....but instead went for the normal "routine" and sent the boys out early to do ground ball work and let out steam!???  Sometimes you just have to throw out the routine book in preference for fire and brimstone!

Opportunity lost IMO and we were outplayed in the 3rd accordingly!!

I fully expect Oliver to be held at every stoppage with no frees being paid. Shuey to be paid plenty of frees for being held.

Come on, no quarter capitulations. It''s 6am here, but might need to crack a beer for this one!

When I see Mr Piggy umpiring I’m immensely confident we will lose.

Shuey will be ducking and flopping like he usually does, racking up cheap frees all day long. It's in his DNA.

Can people stop going on about us not winning against a top eight side. Hasnt collingwood only beaten one top eight team?

Is that Schmidt? Also retiring with Pannell. TF.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.

  • GAMEDAY: West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have a chance to notch up their third consecutive win — something they haven’t done since Round 5, 2024. But to do it, they’ll need to exorcise the Demons of last year’s disastrous trip out West. Can the Dees continue their momentum, right the wrongs of that fateful clash, and take another step up the ladder on the road to redemption?
