There are 3 certainties in life Death, taxes & the MFC to find a way to [censored] things up!

Im 54 & just when you think that just maybe I might start to see success & experience what most of my friends & family who have seen a flag & a few are tiger supporters who were suffering until 2017 which made feel at least there are others . Yet just as you hope, along comes the ever faithful reliant MFC failure factor guarantee! 

Before anyone unloads I’m still hoping that the footy gods will allow us to make finals & my continued support of 20+ year member will continue. 

But through my tormented & suffered experience with the Dees I feel once again they will continue to deliver the kick in the guts that we are so [censored] used to!

Yeah agree & it’s not a deal breaker but it’s the 1% when u do the small things that set a tone for your team .. great teams wouldn’t let things like this slide

The only thing I can think of that could possibly excuse it was that they were concerned Buddy was trying to milk a free kick out of the situation.  Would be just like the umps to give Buddy a free kick for minor retaliatory action, he is such a protected species.

We are no different to 17 other teams who come round 20 are carrying loads of players who are sore and a little injured. 

Only teams out of contention rest or send players off for surgery early. Everyone else soldiers on. Yes we have some key injuries, but Collingwood and GWS have more and they’re above us on the ladder.

Our problem is, we need things to go our way. A fit list, players in form, an opponent who is not at full strength. Our systems are strong enough to cope with adversity. If we fluke finals, we will be smashed week 1. Not a finals ready group.

It's a sign that we're a team in transition, the way our players so often are caught between team rules and their natural instincts. How often did one of our guys storm past the 50 metre line and then think 'Oh no, that's right, I have to lower my eyes and give it off' instead of just banging it home? More experience, more confidence and they'll get it right.

Take out the 6 goal run in the second term, which was done in 15 minutes, and the Swans only kicked 7 further goals for the rest of the game.

Again, it came back to our inability to put pressure on the scoreboard when we dominated the first quarter and a half.  Kick straight and turn that 3.7 into 7.3 and we are 6 goals up and cruising.  The Swans took their chances when they were presented with them and we simply couldn't do the same.

Our composure needs some work, not just in front of goal but around the ground as well, but after a good night of sleep I've woken up this morning knowing that while we are solely to blame for the loss yesterday, we are still well and truly in the finals race with a few rounds to go.  No reason why we can't make it.

The Swans were all like little islands spread over the sea seemingly all alone. They just ping ponged the ball to each other and not a demon in sight to molest them. Smart teams know how to pick us apart piece by piece. The prognosis is not good.

We lost this game today in front of goal.  Sure, they cut us up during periods of the game with their use by foot and our willingness to allow them space.  But we should never have let them win this game of footy.  When Hogan goaled and we were 3.7 it should have been 7.3, as we missed a slew of easy shots.  If we were 6 goals up then they would have been dead and buried.  But they weren't, they got a sniff and, as experienced sides do, they made their chances count when we didn't and we couldn't haul them back.

I must admit that I was bemused at times by some of our decision making, and the implied pressure of the Swans meant that we rushed things at times when we didn't need to.  We had every opportunity to win this game of footy, but we didn't make it count, and that's down to composure and skill execution under pressure.  It's not down to leadership and all that stuff.  We just didn't execute well under pressure.

We certainly lacked some class at times and too many players went missing, but this isn't the end of the world.  Seriously, it's not.  We've got two games to go - win one and we're in.  Simple as that.

I agree and wonder if the issues of pressure and the reaction are being addressed.

From the moment the pre season camp which is supposed to address that issue, was canceled have we reminded the players that they believed they did not need it.

What have they done to replace the "learnings " of that exercise?

Maybe it's time to remind the players that this is TheVine pressure that finals bring. Win the next two and springboard from there.

I am still very much in the tapering /peaking model where we have lost the close ones against good sides and now really need to beat them. Maybe the players know exactly how many big wins they have in them and are pacing themselves perfectly.

It is easy to forget that we are a young team. Not going to use this as an excuse but it does explain some of the lack of composure against finals sides.

I'd love nothing more than to just make the finals, get that stupid hoodoo out of the way and look to 2019 with fresh eyes.

Sydney didn't beat us we best out selves. 17 more inside 50s, 6 more scoring shots and we lose by less than 2 goals. 

We are a very young side with some key players out which just lacked a bit of finish today. Season is not done, I have faith in us getting over the line in at least one of the 2 remaining games.

That bald [censored] of an umpire is beyond rigged.

Alex Johnson has more resilience than the whole MFC team.  Feel for the guy.  As for Demons, what can be said anymore?  Really!  

At the moment this club is not hard enough to play finals, they do not deserve a place in September.  Oliver and Gawn are exceptions, our young guys such as Oliver are carrying the load for guys such as Jones.  Leadership at the sharp end does not exist.

Flat track bully’s and we carry some show bags who turn to water when the heat is on.  Gotta love Sydney and the stronger culture clubs.

Composure...often thrown up...rightly so.

Good decision making is a problem also.

Not just the kids.

Example.. late in game..Tmac has ball about 40m out..in area of left for flank...about 45-50 deg kick. Very kickable really...from experienced player. He actually had time to steady...and consider. He then kicked it across goal as a ..a pass I suppose. To whom...f knows. A fluffed moment...when we screamed for a goal.. Totally abdicated the moment.

This is the sort of things that win or lose games....moments of opportunity...and owning them.

Sometimes it's the enthusiasm of younger ones that prevail.

Interesting that not long after the Dogs gifted us a win, we totally went off the rails. We had a decent lead prior to that.

I know it was probably a coincidence, but it shows how mentally weak we are as a club.

A lot has been said about Harmes post match interview but I believe it stems from the coach. Goodwins presser left me flat. "We will get over this hurdle" seriously. MFC have not beaten a final 8 team all year and we play 2nd and 3rd in the next 2 weeks. I hope internally they are more realistic and planning their September break. So they are being positive for the press but the stats don't lie and we will not beat West Coast or GWS and the season will end the same as last year. MFC cannot be trusted, believe they are better than they are in reality and have a long way to go to get near the best and the sooner the coach admits that the better. He has to acknowledge that his game style is too easy to score against or if it is the players who cannot execute that style they need to go.

Plain and simple, when teams get a run on us we cant stop them.  So many games sides have kicked 5+ unanswered goals against us and we just cant stop them.  Our on field leaders need to step up when that happens and we just don't have any, Goodwin and the coaches can't change the flow of the game until we get our players at a break.

Just garbage, plain and simple we had a chance to secure a top 8 spot and we delivered garbage

Apart from Hogan who needs a whole new set shot method / process, and plenty of practice at it!
