Hunt runs into the f50 and passes badly. Another wasted opportunity.

It's time to implement a team/game plan - if free and balanced within 40-45, then shoot. No need to think, no need to be concerned about "hungry" accusations, no need for teammates to put doubt into your mind.

JUST KICK THE BALL AT THE GOALS.

Better to have had a shot than to squander/butcher another attacking move without even having a shot.

As for set shots, disregard the 30 sec time clock. To maintain momentum, get settled and shoot. 30 sec delay can mess with minds. Coleman, Hudson, Lockett, Ablett didn't need 30 sec.

Jesse is a special case. He has a tendency to veer right in the last few steps to kick across his body and curve the ball in. This is how he kicks naturally (so does Franklin) and should be encouraged. But he should start to swing out earlier in his run so it is less abrupt and destabilising.

Yeah or we could just go down to the local gun shop and get some sharp shooters there.

I like your idea better though.

I am more concerned with where the mids kick to and where the situate themselves when we have repeat entries. They over commit and our opponents transition out and through us like butter.

Transition is a bball term and it is fitting here because it is down the other end regularly beating the shot clock...

Forwards coach isn’t the problem. Frontrunning mids with poor skills is the problem.

Is it someone's job to make sure EVERY PLAYER has a solid set shot routine? Spargo looks like a deer in headlights when he's about to have a set shot, I don't care if he has to go back 30 meters and do it on a run he needs a routine. He rushes everything, he looks like he's barely breathing. I get that he's a kid but this should go for everyone at the club.

The word early on was that an ex footballer Earl Spalding was the goal kicking coach but in recent days I have heard that we hired a South American handball star called Ikant kikforshit so not totally sure which one it is now.

The highest scoring team in the league needs an overhaul of the forward coaching.

Right.

And this is where the illusion persists. We've managed to flat track bully some big scores against crud.. That's all. This alone powers the myth of any special abilities up forward.

The minute we come up against better teams.. better coaching the scoring drops off because our forward structures are essentially shizen.

In case you didn't notice...we lost.

More important..... Who's our shot on goal coach?

Thomas Bugg

Whats Brad Green up to these days? Can he come teach our players to kick for goal?

Our set shots are disgraceful

Aren't we ranked top 3 for set shot accuracy this year?

Yet we’ve thrown away crucial games all season with bad goal kicking

I appreciate that, but our goal kicking - on averages - has been pretty good this year. Sunday hurt big time, but there no reason to start rewriting history.

Everyone should probably take a deep breath, remember we are missing 4 of our top 10 players right now (two of whom we should get back next week). We are also missing Billy Stretch right when he came into some form, same goes for Joel Smith who I thought was becoming really good.

We'll beat West Coast.

Go on then ... how many games have we thrown away with bad (= inaccurate) goal kicking?

Was talking about Jade last night, just our luck some one like the Saints pick him up and they win a flag.

Nice theory. If it were true.

We've been beaten this year by teams who scored lower than what we did on Sunday. We've also kicked a winnable score (over +/- 12 goals) in the majority of matches we've lost.

For some ideas on where we *are* losing games, watch the Access All Areas video on the AFL site, starting at about 3:25. They're not talking about the forward line.

We're consistently getting 60+  forward 50 entries per game, we actually need to focus on:

1. the quality of the ball going into forward 50 = lower the eyes = midfield coach

2. the speed of the ball coming back out of forward 50 and waltzing through the middle of the ground, putting pressure on pagans paddock behind the high press defense = midfield not working hard enough back defensively = midfield coach

3. Whoever is picking JKH to get a game = midfield coach?

Who's the midfield coach?

  • Thank You Simon Goodwin

As Demon fans, we’ve ridden a rollercoaster of emotions over the decades; the heartbreaks, the near misses, the wooden spoons, and the endless waiting. But through it all, we clung to hope. And then came Simon Goodwin. Before he ever wore red and blue, he was a champion in his own right. A five-time All-Australian, two-time Best and Fairest, and two-time premiership hero and Captain with Adelaide, Simon Goodwin was always destined to lead. When he transitioned from the field to the coach's box, first as an assistant at Essendon, he began shaping a new legacy.
