Best game in a while for Tyson last week. Expecting a big one on Sun he's gonna be important.

Retuned in good form Tom Dyson

Yes, he's been better, in the absence of Viney.

Is Dom is good - best form I have seen from him.

Well done and keep it up.

I like Dom. He is 25 and a very good inside player.  if oliver went down we would badly need him.  i hope he can get his confidence back and learn to play wing well

I’ve seen him as expendable and having value at the trade table, however... I’m beginning to think we’re attempting to build more versatility into his game without depending on him to dominate in a foreign position.

In the near future, I can imagine:

Vince/ Lewis retires

Jones to HBF

Tyson into the midfield rotation

Not all that far-fetched. I think as supporters we have the tendency to foresee young players maturing & developing, but ignore the decline of those in their prime. At least, I do sometimes.

The issue remains, even though he's paying well, atmo.

He has to be better with the ball use; handballs, and kicking.

If he can better on the spread and run, he has a chance.  But right now with Viney and Stretch injured, he is in the best 22.  Just as JKH is as well atmo.

A couple of his sweeping handballs to set up teammates for a shot at goal have been impressive the last two weeks

Played well against one of the worst sides ever fielded. I’ve completely forgotten how poor he’s been the last 2 years...

Very good DA

definitely don't want him going anywhere after this season

Agree WWSY. Keep him in the middle, sure he's limited in other positions, but he's still a good centre-man. A more than handy replacement when Jones retires. Brayshaw, Petracca, ANB, Clarry can all play multiple positions, Viney is still a huge question mark (due to injury ?).

Can never have enough midfield depth.

I think his improvement has come from learning his limitations.

Seems to be making the first decision more often than not rather than just getting caught trying to do too much.

Love to see him back in super form coming into September

Dom Tyson is exactly the type of player we need in our team to win a Premiership. He compliments Viney, Oliver, Jones and Brayshaw because he uses the ball well on the outside but can play hard footy on the inside. I think he is the most underrated player at Melbourne FC and I am sure that Goodwin will want to retain him.

Some of his disposal last week (albeit against GC) was pick 3 in the draft quality.

Not something we often associate with Tyson.

He may be back after a patchy couple of years.

Prodigal son returns

No coincidence that Tyson’s improved form has coincided with Viney’s absence, affording him more time in familiar roles.

We’ll need him for finals this year, but going forward I’m still see-sawing on what we do with him. One thing is for sure, we wouldn’t let him go cheaply.

I think he is worth late first or early second as he is contracted after all.

If uncontacted probably a similar value to watts.

Going forward we need him more.  He is 25(?) and Jones is 30+. He is the perfect replacement to that position and we're need to transition it rather than lose them both 12 months apart.

I think he is worth more than Watts because he is a ball winner, not a up and down finisher.

For a lower ranked side with an average midfield, he would start in the centre. Early 20s at least.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

It's Game Day and the Demons have a chance to notch up their third consecutive win — something they haven’t done since Round 5, 2024. But to do it, they’ll need to exorcise the Demons of last year’s disastrous trip out West. Can the Dees continue their momentum, right the wrongs of that fateful clash, and take another step up the ladder on the road to redemption?
