Jones - better on ball

T.McDonald - had a presence

Melksham - a limited impact

Fritsch - versatile and smart

Lewis - steady all game

Garlett - just some cameos

Kennedy-Harris - justified his place

Neal-Bullen - run and pressure

Hogan - very little involvement

Harmes - wonderful tagging game

Petracca - continued improved involvement

Tyson - had a go

Brayshaw - becoming a gun

Frost - confident and important

Gawn - set the tone

Jetta - was rarely sighted

O.McDonald - fortunately rarely required

Oliver - a class above

Salem - important but iffy

Smith - some important touches

Spargo - tried but overwhelmed

Vince - just a game

Joeboy your assessment of Melksham, Fritsch and Garlett makes me wonder if I saw the same game at all.

Melksham and Garlett were amazing at times while Fritta was ordinary for the second week in a row. Maybe carrying an injury.

Tyson : had a go

That is Joeboyspeak for BOG ????

Jetta rarely sighted??

Have to strongly disagree on that one.

Frost: very costly throw

Crows were throwing it quite a bit in Q4 (all I have seen so far) but only two were paid, against Jones who failed to control a slippery bar of soap, andFrost who I must say I thought handballed it.

I think this is pretty spot on. Melksham stiff though.

Frost - pluses outweigh minuses

Lewis - Good for once

OMac - Pants Jelly Jenkins

Tex - Saw Frosty’s dust

Melb - Monkey off back

Spargo - Let tackles slip

Brayshaw - elusive and elite

Oliver - nothing to add

Hogan - Trade in October

i'm not even gonna bite on the hogan thing. i hate his work ethic and he backed out of a lot of physical contests tonight when he needed to go hard.

Jones - missed captains goal

T.McDonald - accurate goal kicking

Melksham - costly banana miss

Fritsch - love his versatility

Lewis - handy early goals

Garlett - stop bloody fumbling

Kennedy-Harris - liked him back

Neal-Bullen - orgasm after goal

Hogan - almost embarassing presence

Harmes - effort effort effort

Petracca - gradually getting better

Tyson - didn't get pinged

Brayshaw - australia's fav dreamteamer

Frost - costly threw footy

Gawn - basically just hitouts

Jetta - smartly rushed behind

O.McDonald - anti-clutch set shot

Oliver - some crafty gathers

Salem - costly kicking decisions

Smith - just a game

Spargo - several missed tackles

Vince - smart sideways kick

Frost- deserves more love

Come on guys. Frosty isn't in many best 22 conversations, yet here he is getting the job done for us in our 22. Makes some mistakes, but overall has been a huge positive down back. His run and carry is a bonus given none of his direct opponents will ever catch him.

He is actually pretty exciting to watch when he is up.

All players make mistakes, earning his spot imo.

Jesse, was ill during the week, plus he copped a knee in the back last week.

no excuse. he was good enough to play and he was shocking before any knocks. a very polarising player, some love him but his work ethic is poor and he is soft for a big guy. needs to lift

Fritsch only had 8 disposals, which surprised me. I’d say every one of them was important, because I thought he was pretty good on the night.

Melksham was much better than joyboy gives credit for this week.

melksham was good. i just wished he kicked that snap in the last qtr coz i knew it was gonna come down to the wire

Clayton Oliver - Machine, Robot,  incredible.

Clarry is in a level of his own.

  • POSTGAME: Essendon

Despite a spirited third quarter surge, the Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, remaining winless and second last on the ladder after a 39-point defeat to Essendon at Adelaide Oval in Gather Round.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

As the focus of the AFL moves exclusively to South Australia for Gather Round, the question is raised as to what are we going to get from the  Melbourne Football Club this weekend? Will it be a repeat of the slop fest of the last three weeks that have seen the team score a measly 174 points and concede 310 or will a return to the City of Churches and the scene where they performed at their best in 2024 act as a wakeup call and bring them out of their early season reverie?  Or will the sleepy Dees treat their fans to a reenactment of their lazy effort from the first Gather Round of two years ago when they allowed the Bombers to trample all over them on a soggy and wet Adelaide Oval? The two examples from above tell us how fickle form can be in football. Last year, a committed group of players turned up in Adelaide with a businesslike mindset. They had a plan, went in confidently and hard for the football and kicked winning scores against both home teams in a difficult environment for visitors. And they repeated that sort of effort later in the season when they played Essendon at the MCG.
