Footy is funny last week we were all cracking the [censored] due to the last quarter fade out and this week we are all happy as fat kids in a lolly shop (although we were close to cracking it again).

Footy is a funny thing.

Did you not see the game day thread until the 3rd qtr.... plenty of chit cracking and finger pointing and player/coach bashing in there.

You're a far better man than me.

1 thing I would say about swyl, even though he is often negative, he is never negative after a win unlike you, and with saty he loves the club, and you can't hate anyone who loves the dees that much.

I reckon he will become the greatest we've seen for this club.

There's at least 10 times a game I rewind and re-watch his magic.

I still can't get over his handball last week to JKH who then passed on to Tmac for a goal. He didn't even look. Just knew someone was there, and hit him dead on the chest

The contribution of OMac and Frost is being underestimated IMO. Tex Walker and Jenkins had no influence. Love seeing Frost run and carry - seriously quick for his size.

i thought Cheney was good for them.

Hats off to our defensive unit for keeping us in the game in rhe first half.

As (most) people understand very hard to contain teams that are dominating contestedvand incontested ball the eau crows were doing

If the back six did not do such a good job we easily could have ben 4-5 goals down.

It's nice to have good 3rd quarters and start the last with a nice lead.  BUT, wouldn't it be SOOO nice if we'd then go on and WIN the last quarter!  Less heart attacks for the poor supporters that way!!

We were defending a big lead going into the last and were helped by a huge downpour. We couldn't stop them getting 10 shots on goal and nearly blew it again.

great we won. Great you're happy.

If this is all you can think about after a win like that, then what's the point?

The fact that people are celebrating our win and posting happy thoughts doesn't necessarily mean those same people think we've got the flag sewn up. They might, of course, but it's also completely possible to come on here and say "great win" whilst acknowledging we need to improve a host of things.

Thank god!!

FWIW,  the last quarter was actually very very similar to last week - main difference being the cats kicked 8.0 and crows kicked 3.7

Yes I did. Your posts don't exactly read like you're happy, do they?

I don't understand why you would come on here and only post about the 10 shots against in the last quarter, given the magnitude of the win otherwise.

What aspects of the game, other than the result, did you enjoy?

Exactly however also they had assistance from the midfield plus when the pressure is on Tex, Lynch and Jenkins go missing big time. Just look at Tex in the GF last year. That aside our 2 key backs are holding up OK and when we get Hibberd back to help we could go along way. That was a very very good win to come back from 20 points down and win by 13. Prefer Alice with 90 point win but this will give the team the belief they can win close games. Bring on the last 4 games.

Must admit had a huge smile on my dial when betts missed that goal from 10m out.

Also breathed a sigh of relief too.

That miss by Betts could be the difference between us playing finals or not.

Huge let off.

Or it might not have been. Are you that confident they’d have been able to kick another goal out of the middle with a minute to go, given how scrappy and lengthy the contests had been?

The ferocity at which Brayshaw attacks the ball and the man is so pleasing considering his injury history.

McGovern's shoulder will be sore this morning, pivotal contest and lesser players might not have gone as hard. We really have a ripper in Gus.

Secondly, credit to Dom Tyson. Thought he was magnificent last night and was central to our 3rd quarter blitz.

Up the Dees!

Or Max could have kicked the goal against Geelong after the siren in the first round. Or Geelong could have missed the goal after the siren last weekend.

Lots of possibilities for and against us, and lot of umpiring BS also through the year.

A bit of luck has to go our way sometimes!

What about Melksham's missed goal?  Come on Clint leave Eeyore and come out of your gloomy place.  There is more to life than thistles.

Didn't they kick 3.7 and a couple OOTF? But yes, their inaccuracy lost them the game.

It hasn't been mentioned, but I thought the Crows lacked class by not acknowledging Lewis' career post game.  Most clubs celebrate a 300 game champion as he's chaired off, but not the Crows.  Nowhere to be seen.

But that's what you get with a soulless cheeseburger corporation.

You couldn’t see it via the TV broadcast but the Crows players and staff did line up opposite our players when Lewis was chaired off. I thought the same thing until I saw the below Instagram post.

Firstly. Given the debacle against Geelong last night at their dunghill was a great result no matter how it came about.

Secondly. Have people forgotten how poor we are in wet conditions. If anything the wet may have helped Adelaide though it is hard to say. The win last night will help ( I hope ) with the clubs mental softness.

Did anyone else see the footage of Jones revving up the team at the 3/4 time break?  He didn't wait for the coaches to arrive, just got players together for what looked like an impassioned pep talk.  They didn't let him or themselves down and fought it out to the very last moment.

Jones had a poor first half but that footage showed what he brings to the team.   For someone whose leadership on field is often questioned that pep talk showed good leadership by him

    HIGHLIGHTS/LOWLIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Melbourne traveled across the continent to take on the Fremantle Dockers in sweltering conditions at Mandurah south of Perth in a game that delivered the club both its highlight and its lowlight in the first minute.  But first, let’s start by doing away with the usual cliches used in connection with the game. It was just a practice match and the result didn’t matter. Bad kicking is bad football. The game was played in severe heat, the swirly breeze played havoc with both teams resulting in

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
