1. Everything Nasher just said

2. Our younger players well and truly stood up including the second tier guys like Harmes/ANB

3. What a competitive fun team we have to watch. Such a joy compared to so many years of depression and no light at the end of the tunnel.

Also Richmond were in this position last year or year before where they couldn't finish off close games/close out games where they were clearly the better side. This young side will learn how to do it and be the toughest team to beat next year and beyond. Getting through to finals will help that development this year of course.

1. We are the highest scoring team in the league and everyone on Demonland believes we can improve how our forward line functions.

2. Without Viney and Hibberd who will both hopefully comeback in 3-4 weeks, we only lost to Geelong away after they kicked 16.4.

3. Since the Tigers in round 5, we should have only lost one game vs Pies a schooler, all the rest we should have won. Once the younger stars Oliver, Trac, Brayshaw, Hogan learn how to lift & win the tight ones, Demons will be a force, Viney would have helped against Cats!

Our VFL team won 10 in a row.

Clarry will be the best footballer in the league shortly.

Gawn is the best ruckman in the comp. (him off the ground killed us)

1. I'm more sure after that game that we'll make finals than I have been in a couple of months. Maybe the most sure I've been all season.

2. How often do people talk about "game of the year" when one of the team's wore red and blue?

3. We are the future. Cats are the past.

1. The AFL will now realise the folly of the nomination rule for ruckman and abolish it...possibly even before the end of this year.

2. The AFL will now realise the folly of the way the protected zone rule is enforced and abolish it WHEN THE OFFENDING PLAYER IS BEHIND THE PLAYER WITH THE BALL AND MOVING OUT OF THE ZONE

3. AFL will now realise the folly of making untried and unnecessary changes to the rules and will not proceed with zones next year.

OK, so 2 out of 3 ain't bad.

The worst thing the AFL have done is come out and said there will be no more rule changes during the season, these two clearly needed to go along time ago and would have saved a heap of controversy

3 Good things:

We are not Carlton, and we used to be.  Don't understimate how far we have come.

Young talent building into elite talent.  If the core of the list holds together, we are building something special

The game plan works - we just have to play it.  When we were 'on', we were a thing of beauty.  A lot revolves around getting the defensive setups more consistently in place, and fixing the forward 50 connection.  My god, we will then be scary.

That's 3.

There is a lot to be happy about the Dees right now.  Even though it feels like the heart has been ripped out of the chest, we are creating something that should be dynastic.

3. Harmes doing an amazing job tagging

He just found his niche. If he is able to maintain the past couple of weeks efforts (or even improve in them given his inexperience at playing this role) he will become a mainstay in our team and add a third bow to his versatility (flanker, midfielder, tagger).

Hats ? off to the OP, really like when someone realises we need a positive thread every now and then!

1. Harmes was excellent

2. Frost improved

3. Trac improved

1. Every remaining game is winnable.

2. This home-and-away season is going to be an exciting ride right up to the end of round 23.

3. Umm... we're just ten points short of being equal top of the ladder. (beats head against wall)

Ok, a better 3. Our players are getting a whole lot of chances to learn to win high-stakes games against quality opponents.

After all of the complaints and concerns expressed so far this season on DL, it remains an enigma that had the MFC received a fairer shake from the umpires this year, converting disfavour into a capacity to lose games at the discretion of the White Brethren, so many times - and to lose games due to a lack of momentum on this unfair playing field - we would be:

  • on top of the ladder at present
  • in no danger of going very deep into September
  • and when on a roll like that, being the Club of choice for the new recruits and free agent masters of the game

Totally agree. It feels like we’re about to bust through a wall. As Goodwin said, we are “so close, it’s not funny.”

Sadly, it may also mean these two may not actually disappear - as these should.

If the AFL have said that '...no more rule changes...' will take place, then scrapping a rule is a change and thus, will not take place.

What the AFL does when it has these genius moments is pile heaps of controversy down the track without thought of the consequences, the implications and the net effect to the stability of the game.

There are talented people who have played football at the top level - these are the people who should be leading and regulating the AFL - immediately.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
