Pedo gives us size down back, and some better kicking rebound 50.   And chop-out Max in ruck, allowing Max to slide forward more often.

I've also been wondering about Hannan,,, as a swingman... learning to play as a defender.  mobile, agile, speed, and great tackler. OK kick.

Keilty won't play against the Crows, way too much of a risk in a much too important game. If he's lucky he might get a go vs the Suns if we need to rest someone. He had a good game vs the Cats, kept Buzza goal-less and to only 6 disposals, so he definitely is deserving of a game, but I don't see it happening given our run home. 

Pederson was very good against the Cats so if they feel they need to bring in another tall, given his experience at AFL level, I'd expect they'd pick him over debuting a Rookie.

I just can't see what they see in Joel Smith. Sorry l don't hate the guy he is trying but just does not cut it. Kielty is a matured 194CM and 95 Kgs and has the smarts. Big bodied as well played football through the junior days not basketball as his priority like Joel has.        JKH  is not doing enough to hold his spot and should have kicked the sealer late in the last. It is hard for him to show his wares which he did in his first year. It does not look that he is up to it.  Time to bring in Bugg for some tough stuff. He has go and that's what we need at the moment until we get back Hibbo and Viney.

He was so accurate in the VFL the week they were flooded, he obviously struggles to maintain composure and the same skills when in front of a big crowd. I think kicking that goal might’ve made him, but now I can’t see him at our club next year. 

I’d be up for Bugg coming in, even though he has very questionable skills his work rate, pressure, and pest-nature creates shots on goal.

I watched e VFL game & while he played well at that level the step up is 2 gr8 4 him  He can't handle the pressure the footy is like a hot potato 4 him he just wants 2 pass it off he doesn't size up his options at AFL level. For Casey small crowds more time he does okay but not a long or accurate kick.

Hannan s breakout game last year was against the Crows in adelaide.

Playing J.Smith allowed Hibberd to retain his role, rather than be forced into a 3rd tall role. He's only played 8 games and I see the potential the coaches obviously do and think he could eventually be a hybrid 2nd/3rd tall interchanging with Lever when he comes back. Clearly our structure has worked best this year with 1 key back, then 2 guys who aren't a traditional 2nd tall they offer interception abilities. This went out the window with Lever knee and now we have Hibberd out, bringing Kielty in only gives us 3 tall backs which make us too top heavy.

He is a young 6 foot 3 athletic defender who has played 6 games in his career. He is quick has a great leap and can play small. I know he has made some errors but I put this down to inexperience and believe he is trying to do the correct things.  I reckon he will be a lock in the 22 in a couple of years

Would be quite happy to see this weekend's team resembling the team that smashed the Crows round 10.

JKH and Tyson just aren't up to AFL standard.

We have enough mids and half forwards so no need to go like for like. T Smith as 3rd tall forward and providing relief ruck will allow T Mac to play solely as a forward. We had all of Hogan, T Mac and T Smith playing when we played the Crows last time. That seemed to work out alright for us.

To me that means we have to bite the bullet and play Vanders, even if it is a week earlier than planned. We need another big body at night and assuming we give Tyson more game time this week (only played 63%), then Vanders should be able to cope with about 65% game time bashing into players.

The other in is the certain one - Wagner. He comes in for JKH, but obviously won't play his wing. It just means that Spargo spends a bit more time on wing. Wags inclusion means he can play on one of their talls when needed (given Adelaide's big size) and also means the coach has to do what I've advocated all year - send Bernie forward where his smarts and lip can come in handy and we all know he loves a goal (and a laugh or even a smile). But on a serious level, we should be trying to manufacture a match up that sees him picking up Laird a fair bit of time.

Bit harsh on Tyson. Had 21 possessions working as 4th Midfielder and minimal time on ground. Personally I felt his game was an improvement on earlier in the year.

Maybe it is just lack confidence in JKH because he tackle well ,delivers well (most times). I reckon he feels he is hanging on by his fingernails every time he plays. DIfficult position to be in.

Good news is there are no new injuries aside from potentially Harmes

Bad news is we don't have many at Casey in form. Pederson is going OK, Smith OK as well. Kent had 14 touches and no goals, not sure of his tackles/pressure. Hannan was dropped for extended poor form and didnt play I dont think

You'd imagine JKH is out and perhaps Harmes (who would be a real loss)

INS - Hannan if fit. who else?  Bugg was even mentioned in the stats but he is the type of player we need (a runner)

Hopefully Hunt, Viney and Hibbo are all back soon

Who takes McGovern? Smith (who quite frankly is not up to it)

Severely miss Hibberd and it's not even worth talking about Lever.

The result will totally rest on the above match ups. And i fear our defence won't be able to contain their potency up front.

We can win all the clearances, contested possessions, inside 50's, score 100 points, but yet another forward line could get a hold of us.

A lot will depend on the weather in my opinion. The Crows play tall with McGovern in and Tex, Lynch and Jenkins but Collingwood smashed them earlier with fast movement and handball on a wet night highlighting how top heavy that combo is.

I want MFC to play our brand and not bring blokes in to cover their height. Let them make changes to try and cover our guns.

i like joel smith and i thought he played well against the cats. he is quick, agile, aggressive, versatile and plays to his strengths. i rate him and i'm surprised others dont either. 

Does it actually matter ? We will probably be in it till the 20 minute mark of the last quarter with double the scoring shots as the Crows and snatch defeat from the jaws of victory like we have so often this year. Sadly we are still a 8-9th placed side, while we have to play the likes of JHK and Smith we will struggle to win against any have decent side

Agree. he has something i reckon. Very early days for him and clearly the club see real potential there. It is worth remembering in that context he was selected round 1 last year.

we lost because of failure in the last quarter to stem Geelong rush

if I could see Omac was in trouble by himself then the coaches should have seen it and responded. Best quarter by Hawkins ever(?) how many goals  they kicked 8 blind Freddy could see an extra defensive player was needed 

Coaching staff need to mature as well,

but I am not confident they will,  not in the next few weeks anyway.

Agree.  and its looking like rain at the moment.  our midfield should beat theirs so the wet should suit us

I’ve heard Sloane will play. I doubt smith would come straight back in. 

With O Mac, frost and Smith I don’t think we should go with any more talls Especially in the wet
