Who do we realistically target for a trade?

Freeeeeeeeooooooooooo. Will the deal they’re putting together involve Cerra and draft picks? It could. You heard it here first. #ETtradewhisperer.

He's a bloody good player that Cerra, have you seen much of him mate?

Cerra, first round and second round would do nicely. Sounds like they're having a crack anyway

Not much at all, best person to ask re: Cerra is probably @Pennant St Dee. Hogan would fill a huge hole for them so can’t blame them for giving it a crack.

Hugh Goddard and Kieran Collins, both highly rated juniors who have had their share of injury issues.

Both delisted... could be DFA or Rookie option if we’re looking at out key defensive depth.

Make sense, we're also in the mix for Sam Collins as well, they all are bigger backs that allow Lever to stay 3rd tall even if OMac or Forst are injured/out of form. We've also got Petty coming through but he looks to be at least another season away from seriously challenging for permanent 1st team action (not a slight on him, i think he'll be good but hope they take the right time with him).

what's happened to cam mccarthy, ethan? has the talent but seems to lack consistency and application

I’m not sure if he missed out on pre-season but he was well underdone during the year and quite unfit. His condition may also be ‘heart’ related.

Alright, I feel dirty even putting this out there but.....

Make a big play for Lynch, can’t see GC matching the bid, pick 3 better than what they will get IMO if Lynch chose to come to us. Then trade Hogan (who I love and this is the only scenario I would even consider trading him) to Fred for say, Andrew Brayshaw.

If we could make it happen, then it would be hard not to do it.

Need to wash my mouth out with soap now....

This makes a lot of sense..Lynch is and will be a better player and leader than Hoges and everyone wins. Might take a bit of tinkering but we would have a very settled team going into our premiership window. I’ll eat some soap now too.

Except my original post was meant to say, Brayshaw and their first round pick.

hoges would be mad to go and play for that rabble IMHO. Why would he wonna play for Ross Lyon for God's sake. would be career madness.

I was thinking today, would Hogan have the clout (balls, ego) to say yes, with the proviso that Ross is not at the club...., not that it means Ross would leave before the end of his contract...but from an outsiders perspective (and having some links to inside intel)...generational schisms etc etc....

Sam Maclure did state that Freo were preparing a massive offer to throw at Hoges. And they may well be doing that but I think they have missed the boat. Goody stated on Monday "On the Couch" that Hogan is a Melbourne (city) boy now and despite his injury is everywhere at the club embracing the finals. This is his home.

The players all know where we are at and what success brings. At a function Sunday a rehabing demon said he expects to play finals with us for the next 9 years. Freo are a rabble with an ageing list and all Hoges mates are at MFC.

that'd be Lever then eh... he's the only one who's a monty for that length of time...second thoughts...could be straight from Hogan...

Correct it was Jake, he is much taller than I anticipated as well

We should be starting rumours that we are targeting any random player you like at GWS or Geelong, just to mess with their salary cap.

I'm less and less concerned about who we target as each week goes by.

Eerie combination of confidence in our list and confidence in our drafting.

Our biggest gap is ball use going inside 50, where we have a couple of young candidates coming along who we will have to see what happens. Plus, improvement from overall team experience and system and all that jazz. Chad Wingard is a restricted free agent in 2019, though...

We might want an understudy as future small defender to replace Neville Jetta, but touch wood that need is still a fair way off.

Being publicly quiet hasn’t harmed us over recent years.

Did anyone catch McClure on SEN this morning, I only caught the last bit of it but did he say that a club was throwing everything at Hogan? And if so, which club was it?

Yeah. Sure. Jesse must just be itching to play in a Ross Lyon forward line ???

McLure saying McGovern 100% to Carlton.  The Blues are looking too get softer. ?

And possibly another to leave Adelaide!

Memo: MFC please don’t trade any players from Adelaide Crows. They are bruised mash potato! ?

Gaff is still very gettable for the Dees I think!

Would hope we have someone lined up as a free agent to justify giving away the picks we did for Lever last year. This years draft picks 32, 43, 50, 86 aren't going to get clubs excited

2 hours ago, worldwideweb_demon said:

Think those picks are wrong. It's 36, 43, 54 and 90.

Either way, we're clearly not as interested in this draft as draft's gone by, and that's great, it seems to me that the club sees that we're close to success and getting kids in won't have the impact as what they have in the recent past. A win now mentality is what the likes of Hawks, Swans, Cats etc have had for a long time and why they haven't needed to bottom out, now we've been through years of that I hope we're doing everything we can to win. I just wished some supports saw that and still weren't hung up on draft picks, then you get less silly ideas about trading good players just to get a kid who might not play for a couple of years.

I'd like to see the club target Jane Bunn. Seeing we are now struggling to play the MCG and our game plan is more suited to Etihad I think Jane would be quite helpful on getting first hand info and long range weather forecasts, helping us prepare for the wet and windy well before our opposition. She could also be quite helpful in ways to prepare and recover from our NT games, particularly Darwin if we continue. Another advantage would be knowledge of destinations and changing weather patterns for interstate games. IMO she should be our first priority over Gaff.

Seems GWS are somewhere between 1 and 2 million over the cap for 2019, based on current contracts. Which is why Shiel is on the market, as Coniglio and Kelly are out of contract next year. I'm sure Carlton will take 10 spuds off their hands.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
