Posting on this topic hours after a demoralising loss is never a good idea but whatever:

In: Frost, Garlett, Spargo, Stretch

Out: Tyson, ANB, Hannan, Petty

Petty never should have played, so I don't buy the argument that he should get a second crack. Just accept we got it wrong and get him out. I don't like Frost and I doubt I ever will but that change just has to be made.

Tyson is adding nothing to the side, complete waste of a spot. Give Stretch a go on that wing. Another player I don't like but deserves a chance.

I'd then drop ANB and Hannan for Garlett and Spargo. Get some smaller, pacier forwards in. Let Hogan, TMac, Weideman and Fritsch contest in the air, and have Garlett and Spargo at their feet. But both Garlett and Spargo have to work their butts off defensively. Run, chase, tackle, pressure. We're not getting enough of any of that from ANB and Hannan and ANB in particular deserves to be dropped and to have the heat put on him.

Ok, just heard that Fyfe has done a hammy. May be difficult for even us to stuff next week up (I said maybe)

Correct - just off Twitter

Fremantle has been dealt a huge injury blow, with Nat Fyfe suffering a hamstring injury, which seems to have ended his day | sen.lu/2KmPmDE | #AFLFreoLio

There must be a god after all.

Was just thinking about how he will tear us apart next week in a Freo win.

I guess he will have to watch them beat us on TV now.

MFC “hold my beer”

we shall find a way

Bring back Vince. Can't be experimenting with Casey players at this time of year. At least he can kick and handball at targets.

The way the defence is structured and how they got the ball in quickly I felt for Petty today.

He had no chance...

...but I felt more for us long sufferings.

...out me.

Might be time for a self imposed suspension.

Yeh look, with all due respect, you're his brother. So it's natural that you're going to say that.

Petty had some decent moments but also looked overawed at times today. It doesn't help when Goodwin plays such a ludicrous defensive setup that plays to no individual's advantage. We constantly have mis-matches with opponents and with O-Mac being our only 'experienced' key back, it's becoming really problematic given his drop-off in form. He is back to what he was last year.

Petty ain't the problem. And Dec coming in wouldn't magically change things. It's up to Goodwin now and whether or not he is ballsy enough to change some of what he 'thinks' is 'the way forward'. We've had the same [censored] issues for two years in regards to opposition scoring once inside 50.

It's disgusting.

Backline leaked big time but the spead

and ease sk bought the ball in was wrong.

Trac out.  Called the spotlight and didnt dance.

Hannan.........weid...petty...smith as well.

Ins ......no idea.

Dockers with Fyfe out and their performance today will be keen to make amends. We will say that we are keen but just talk, don’t actually do.

Sorry should have posted that on Joeboy's thread.

Current temperature in Darwin: 31 degrees.

Gonna be hard going next weekend and the week after.  We may need to make some tactical selections for the conditions over the next two weeks.

Seasoned bodies like Frost, Stretch, Bugg, Pedersen, Garlett, Vince, the etc may need to be rotated through at some stage.

Surely petracca had a Damocles hanging over him now?

Tyson - am done with him

hannan out

petracca out

in Garlett spargo stretch - pick another few to drop too

That is our main problem Hogan, TMac, Weids etc all fly for the ball and no one at the fall. These guys do not take enough marks let alone contested one's. No one leads at the ball carrier so we just bomb it in. This current team is the most pathetic kicking team I have seen in many years. They have no brains. Everyone chasing in close for ball. It falls out and guess what the opposition are there to take it away. We lost this at selection and playing to many out of form players.

Couldn't agree more. Trac has to go and Tyson also plus I think where ever they found Petty from they need to send him back. Just not a AFL player. There won't be major changes as Goodwin is just as dumb as our players but ANB, Hannan, Smith plus plenty others will be lucky to stay in.

As well as Fyfe doing his hammy, Sandilands pulled out just before the start of the game with a calf injury he did in the warm-up.

Out Sandilands, Fyfe

Do they train not to all go up? Football 101

if not, wtf is the coaching team doing? Fingers up their bms maybe

if so, put all three on notice

id prefer for a demonstrative rolling of heads though

That is a bad sign......for us.

Out: Hannan, Tyson, Petracca

In: Stretch, Garlett, Spargo

Hannan 4 possessions today (I reckon at 62 I could get 4 possessions), been a fan, and they've given him lots of chances by time to play at casey

Tyson: slow, poor foot skills, . say no more

Petracca...needs a wake up. Doesn't do nearly enough  ....anything......when the opposition has the ball

Lots of agreement on these 3 ins. If the collective semi intelligence of DL can see it why not modagon Goodwin?

id give trac a chance in 2s with clear message and if he doesn't pull his finger out trade him

WWCD what would Clarkson do

Yep but also Petracca and Neal  Bullen need to go

Oscar Baker a chance , Pedo at least offers grunt and experience!

IN: Who gives a flying f%#k

OUT: Me for 2018

Out: petty, hannan, ANB and Tyson.                                                                                                                 In : Frost, Garlett, Spargo and Stretch.

In -       Stretch,   Spargo,   Keilty,  Garlett

Out -       Hannan, Tyson,  Petracca,  Petty

Tyson, Hannan and Petty out. Petty not yet ready for AFL. Another pre season may and JLT games should see him better prepared.

Baker and Stretch in. I would give Keilty a try in a key back position. Pedo not suited to a key back role and Frost has already been tried many times without success. Freud said the definition of insanity was doing the same thing over and over and over again and expecting a different result each time. So maybe time for Keilty to be tried.

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.
