Goodwin must hate Paul Roos.

He took any bit of defence Roos instilled in us and [censored] it right off.

So we are NOT who we thought we were...

We are a bunch of frontrunners and we are wasting a lot of talent and a year where the comp is very open.

The Goodwin Questions remain.

We need BENNY HILL music when we play because that sums us up perfectly.

What ever u r doing Goodwin CHANGE it FFS.

I don't know how I can take anything positive from that.  Gawn was immense, I thought Harmes gave us something, Viney had a dip in the last... but what else?  Now that we're supposed to be a 'finals side', you can't take little wins here and there anymore.  They just don't cut it.

The problems we had today are the problems many have been talking about for a few weeks now.  Lack of leg speed, horrible execution going forward, a back line that is easy to score against.  All three were brought to the forefront today and, against a side that has 2 wins for the year, we looked second rate.  That's pretty unforgivable stuff.

The play that set up the Battle goal in the last is proof of this.  There was a contest at half forward, they won it, spread quickly and had an easy kick inside forward 50.  They did it to us off the half back line all day long.  We didn't have an answer for it and every time they went forward they looked like scoring.  I don't think that's the fault of the defence, but clearly after having Lever go down we haven't found the right mix there yet.

Also, we've had this problem for years now.  Our game plan looks okay until we hid the mid-season bye, and then it all begins to fall apart.  Sides know where they can beat us, and how they can beat us, and they exploit it all day long.  We didn't have an answer last year and, at the moment, we don't have an answer right now.  It's just not good enough.

I don't want to sink the boots into the players individually.  I want to badly, but I can't.  I think most would agree there are some out there who are not up to it or are on their last legs who have had enough chances.  We can't continue to carry these players anymore.

I also won't lose the plot completely and say finals are gone.  That's just madness.  Alright, our form isn't good, but we've shown we can turn it around after a couple of shockers earlier in the year.  Until we mathematically can't play finals I'll believe we can still make it.  There is plenty of footy still to be played.

I don't know what else to add.  It's going to be a long week, but I think what comes the clubs way during it is more than deserved.

This club kills it supporters year after year!!  Can anyone in the world save this club from itself?  We self destruct like no in history.  They make me spew.  Never ever can trust them!!!!

Absolute joke, we aren't even flat track bullies anymore.  We still have serious issues between the ears

Also, I want to add this as well but won't edit my post:

Tom McDonald should NOT have played and it was stubborn to do so.  Even in our losses he has been our one shining light, yet he didn't even look like it today.  We should have done the right thing and played someone else (Spargo, Stretch) and given him a week off.  I don't often criticise the selections, but this one was a poor one.

Goodwin cannot coach for peanuts. He's taken everything good that Roos instilled and thrown it out the window.

The playing group thought they were September bound after the Bulldogs game and have been complacent ever since.

Questions for good.

1. Petty, clearly not ready hardly would cope ar VFL level by the looks of it. Why the hell is he picked in such an important game?

2. Why the [censored] do we have our competiative beast and captain tagging in the first half? Our strength is our inside ball, they should be tagging us not the other way around.

3. At training do we practise inside 50 delivery? If so why the [censored] do we always have 3 players fly for the one ball?

4. Are you going to be a soft piece of [censored] in the presser and not question the absolutely [censored] umpiring today.

5. Wheres jeffy?

6. Why is Dom around?

7. [censored] you I could coach this team better

Once upon a time ...in a different place long long ago there was a team called Melbourne.....they were brave and took on all comers and always held the Chalice upon high..........

that was then...this is now

discuss

Another false dawn.....

Another week of hearing from the coach it didn't resemble the way we want to play!

Really  so were does the buck stop & who with?

Members/ supporters  fed up!

Too many medium forwards.  They spoil KPFs and don't crumb enough

1. Why is that our players struggle to keep their feet compared to the opposition?

2. We have too many players out of form

      Oscar, Melksham, Petracca, Hogan etc

3. Why do we have pinpoint accurate passes to opposition players?

4. Mick Malthouse”s assessment of MFC is spot on.

never went away

Ive been saying for weeks/months, we haven't beaten anyone, the warning signs were there from the very first game of the season. All good and well to beat up out of form sides, but when going gets tough we crumble. They learned nothing from round 23 last year, same mistakes every week.

Dumb coaching, slow and poor tactical nous

No leadership (Viney and Gawn excepted today) but others are poor when heat is applied.

Hogan, TMac, Melksham, Tyson, Salem wtf?

B Grade plodders - Jones, Lewis, Tyson, ANB, Smith, Petracca, the list goes on.

Jones - great clubman and thanks but a bog ordinary footballer

Season over - some serious questions need to be asked.

If supporters can see the same issues every week, then why aren't they addressed? 3 blokes going for marks, bombing long (wtf again??)

We played well v Adel and Carl, but have had serious issues in games and within games since round 1.

To the positive bufferfly net swingers, explain that trash you speak, totally disgusting football club.

I'm sick of losing.

Lewis, Tyson, Petty and Weideman back to VFL. They were all next to useless today.

Tyson never again. Lewis is just in it for his super.

Trade Weideman now, get whatever we can for him, he is next to useless. Petty given a game too early, but he has time.

  • NON-MFC: Round 07

Round 7 gets underway in iconic fashion with the traditional ANZAC Day blockbuster. The high-flying Magpies will be looking to solidify their spot atop the ladder, while the Bombers are desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top eight. Later that evening, Fremantle will be out to redeem themselves after a disappointing loss to the Demons, facing a hungry Adelaide side with eyes firmly set on breaking into the top four. Saturday serves up a triple-header of footy action. The Lions will be looking to consolidate their Top 2 spot as they head to Marvel Stadium to clash with the Saints. Over in Adelaide, Port Adelaide will be strong favourites at home against a struggling North Melbourne. The day wraps up with a fiery encounter in Canberra, where the Giants and Bulldogs renew their bitter rivalry. Sunday’s schedule kicks off with the Suns aiming to bounce back from their shock defeat to Richmond, taking on the out of form Swans. Then the Blues will be out to claim a major scalp when they battle the Cats at the MCG. The round finishes with a less-than-thrilling affair between Hawthorn and West Coast at Marvel. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.
