Well thats's one of the three we needed.

Way off a given that we can find the other two.

Need to play smart against GCS. Percentage is irrelevant (we are miles in front of everyone else) so a nice regulation 30 point win would be nice. Get a good break in Q1 and then just close out the game

Just did a ladder predictor and we can still make top 4 if we only lose 1 of the remaining providing some results go our way. Could be either Rich v Melb week one or maybe Melb v Ess/Syd (IF we make it)

I have us losing to GC next week, followed by a win over Sydney, loss to WCE and then losing to GWS in a thriller to miss the finals. Werd up?

thank you Chookrat for your optimistic prediction.

Sadly we all know it could well turn out to be true ?

If that’s the case we should request the final to be played in Alice Springs. Carlton have won more games than Richmond interstate this season.

Why would you have us losing to West Coast? North today should that they are not any better than us! At least we have North’s measure in Tassie!?

West Coast were without Shuey and Kennedy today, I'm not sure how long they're out for? But they make a big difference to the way they play.

Shuey should be back next week, Kennedy will miss another week

None of the last 4 games should hold any fears for us.  We know we can match it with anyone, and if we continue to play at the level we have been, then there is absolutely no reason why we can't go extremely close to winning all of the last 4 games.

Worst possible matchup given our recent form.  Maybe we should tank a game for 4th /s ?

Hawks with a huge % boost today, and the Cats have two % booster games in Rounds 22 and 23 at home as the AFL continues to gift them a charity draw.

Our percentage is not looking like our saviour just yet...  we must annihilate the Suns to give us more breathing space.

We kinda have our B game going....need to find our A game from here on in ...and nail it down for finals.

Lots of competition for spots ;)

We should pound the Suns into oblivion: young injury weakened team who can't wait for the season to end vs a hungry team with this group's first chance for finals....should be a no-contest

we will have everyone except Lever by the time finals come around - if you dare to dream think about the Doggies 16 when they had been putrid but got all their players back to start the finals - there will be the week off as well so we should be cherry ripe for first week if we make it

If we can pull off all four we will play Richmond even 3 wins we will probably play them as well. I would love to have a crack we have the cattle to trouble them and could catch them off guard. Suddenly if you are in a home prelim anything is possible

I seriously think people like you should be banned from this site. Anyone talking about finals should eat their words. Apparently, last season wasn't a big enough example of people getting ahead of themselves. i still don't think we make finals, and that will stay that way until we actually make finals.

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

The Demons have the Bye next week but then are on the road once again when they come up against the Gold Coast Suns on the Gold Coast in what could be a last ditch effort to salvage their season. Who comes in and who comes out?

  • POSTGAME: Port Adelaide

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
