By my reckoning we haven't won a game since he was announced as the new CEO.

Looks like he's lost the players before he's even started.

THIS .. We have lost all 3 games since he was made CEO.

I have heard that internal people have serious issues with Gary Pert.

Apparently Peter Jackson had no say in who was going to be our next CEO combined with Josh Mahoney being completely overlooked has seriously ruffled the feathers.

I have a really uneasy feeling about how this might start to open up old wounds.

I really hope I'm wrong and this isn't true – but time will tell.

announced 14th June, but the club knew about it prior to the Collingwood game.

I guess its just coincidence too that since Essendon sacked Mark Neeld their form has completely done a backflip ? ..

Anyway.. like i said.. time will tell.

You can't be serious surely, blaming a bloke that will take over in 4 months as ceo. The players wouldn't give a s**t who the ceo was.

The jungle drums are beating about this...

I have some limited experience with Collingwood when Pert was there and its fair to say the view is he is an ordinary bloke and an even more ordinary administrator. I hope I am wrong but I don't feel good about this appointment.

Thanks for the insight Die Hard Demon. I've unfortunately heard the same things and has created a huge sense of tension and uneasiness internally. I don't care what anyone says, but the fish rots from the head. This has caused an indirect impact on the playing group whether we like it or not. Standby for further news about this which will come out in the media sooner or later.

Are the MFC factions at it again?  Those coteries who are famous for disunity!  If anyone has solid info about Perts appointment causing internal problems, put up or shut up.  The members are restless enough already.

Are there issues with Pert or the way it was handled? What could Pert do to destroy the club? Am just interested that's all as obviously I don't know him personally

I with you Soidee if Coteries anyone try to cause Friction the should all take a hike and take your money with them, we don’t need you, the club is trying to become a successful club overall and any Disunity from groups egos can get lost we don’t need you or your $$.

Pert is proven to get brilliant commercial results which we desperately need. For a CEO to be in the one role for 11 years normally that brings overall success across the board. Time will tell though.

I'm not at all sure he did mishandle the coaching situation at EFC...subsequent events would say they should have kept with Knights.

Matty Knights wasn't necessarily a bad coach but he was always going to struggle to live up to expectation in the shadow of Sheedy. He just wasn't 'Essendon enough' for their supporters (similar to how we carried on pre PJ about people bleeding red and blue) not experienced enough to take the scrutiny on board that was to come his way.

I think PJ also put his foot in it by talking about only getting people from 'backgrounds of success' but then getting someone with the background I mentioned.

The best coach I reckon for them at the time would have been Neale Daniher. He knew the place, knew how to coach and especially knew how to weather criticism.

Perhaps you might want to seek out 'Reading with Phonics' before posting again.

I think a few people are being spooked by Pert, because PJ has been so good and a few people are hearing gossip about some problems at Collingwood, which if true you would hope he has learned from. He was there for 11 years and oversaw their transformation, along with Eddie,  to a powerhouse club.

Hopefully he does a great job for us. If he is no good he can be moved on.

I wonder if we may hear anything from PJ or Pert in the near future, probs more so PJ as pert doesn’t take over until October??

Why not both? Surely with the power of 2 we could take down the tyranny that is the AFL!

Yarra Park training and admin base. Near Jolimont station. Lock it in, er, Perty

So putting this on the front page of the Hun killed it.

Taskforce coming back very soon with recommendations. One option building over the AAMI carpark on Gosch's side.

Either way, likely to have a location for our future base soon.

Who put it on the front page before it needed to be/it was a done deal?

Many thanks for the 'heads-up' Chook.

If Perty can pull this off in the current climate, he will be our best Secretary / CEO since Jimmy Cardwell.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
