Another swing and a miss from Norf.  I wonder who they'll end up getting?  Maybe they can offer Dean Kent a million a year for 5 years?

According to De Goey’s manager Collingwood still have to make up some $ before he’ll sign.

Self planted rumour by Collingwood saying he'll sign with them!

Be very VERY surprised if this lad goes anywhere. Too important to Collingwood's list...too important to their brand etc

The argy bargy of 'negotiation' will eventually come to a ...dare I say....happy ending.

North and Aints will STRUGGLE to land anyone...to many other BETTER destinations out there.

Don't give up on Gaff yet we have plenty of money to give Gaff as well.

So long as its all above board. Collingwood should be struggling to fit DeGoey in their cap.

apparently, He wants to be a Millionaire?

who's in the 'Millionaire hot Seat' ?

Just signed a 2 year extension with Collingwood.

Bad luck North. Or perhaps good luck as their reported offer was ridiculous.

The media are stating that De Goey is likely to go to the Cats or Saints if he leaves Collingwood. I question whether we should look at him.

Negatives are obvious. (He is a DH and hard to manage).

Pros are:

  • He is one of the better players in the competition on his day
  • He fits our need to bolster the forward half
  • It looks like he will not command ridiculous money
  • He is a free agent
  • He is the same age as our core stars (Petracca, Oliver and Lever)

Obviously we won't have room in the cap if Jackson and Brayshaw end up staying and so we won't even consider recruiting De Goey until they let us know what they are doing. And any compensation if Brayshaw leaves will be eroded.

Yuck, no way. That guy is cultural cancer. Don't care how good his footy is, he's an out-and-out grub

Where is he playing? He’s not playing midfield with our stars. So HFF? Expensive mid sized forward? Another Fritsch? It’s just not good list management and balance.

Dusty was seen as an ice addict and 'cultural cancer' when he was shopping himself around Western Sydney and went on to win three Norm Smith Medals

Steven May has proven himself to be no angel. Should we get rid of him?

De Goey could replace Sparrow (on current form), Bedford, Harmes, or Melksham and we would be better.

How many players in the competition are 20 possessions and a goal per game? Maybe 10?

Steven May was the captain of the club he came from (a leader) and was AA last year. He has been a great servant apart from the [censored]-up at Entrecote this year. Dusty has never been an ice addict, and besides, we have a player who is like De Goey but better in Petracca. De Goey is neither AA or Norm Smith quality and has demonstrated an inability to grow as a player on the field and as a person off it. He can go to Essendon and join Stringer so the Bombers can have two talented but idiotic mercurial forwards who will play five good games a year and teach terrible habits to their young teammates the rest of the year.

Jesus 'Fat'.. some interesting claims you gone with here.

Don't think 'ice addict' was ever attached to Dusty at all. His issue was more just immaturity and off field professionalism. This was all when he was much younger then Degoey who is 27 next year and still carries on like a 17 year old [censored].

So, if it wasn't a free agency year and you were our list manager, you'd trade Sparrow / Harmes for DeGoey? You clearly don't understand our gameplan or the important role these guys play every week.

I'd imagine if he has another major indiscretion, the club will consider sacking him.

There was was a lot of negative PR he put the club through.

I wouldn't be going for De Goey if he wasn't a free agent.

As for Sparrow and Harmes. They are both good players but they are not De Goey level talent.

Steven has at times been a naughty boy getting a bit agro but he was still seen in enough light to be promoted to a captaincy role of a club.  He then filled a need in which we were desperate for.

Dusty wasnt' a cultural cancer like you say.  He's actually been an incredibly hard trainer all his life.  Ice was never in the conversation but he definitely was enjoying the party & social life of an AFL footballer to the fact he had a club imposed curfew at the start of his second season.

But Jordan is on a whole other level!  From a two minute google, I have no idea why anyone would pay him the cash!!

  • tells the club he breaks his hand playing with a dog (allows Bucks to go into bat for him against the media)
  • turns out he lied and broke it in a punch on in St Kilda
  • gets done drink driving
  • gets done driving without a licence
  • charged with rape
  • convicted of harassment
  • charged for forcibly touching a woman in the USA
  • charged for assault against a man in the USA
  • follows this up with attempts to expose a womans breast in Bali

Zurhaar > Degoey

I wouldn't touch Degoey and would be extremely surprised if Geelong did either. He seems made for the Saints

Although I can't understand the logic of we already have one mid-sized forward (Fristch), so therefor we don't need another.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

Hands up if you thought, like me, at half-time in yesterday’s game at TIO Traeger Park, Alice Springs that Melbourne’s disposal around the ground and, in particular, its kicking inaccuracy in front of the goals couldn’t get any worse. Well, it did. And what’s even more damning for the Melbourne Football Club is that the game against St Kilda and its resurgence from the bottomless pit of its miserable start to the season wasn’t just lost through poor conversion for goal but rather in the 15 minutes when the entire team went into a slumber and was mugged by the out-of-form Saints. Their six goals two behinds (one goal less than the Demons managed for the whole game) weaved a path of destruction from which they were unable to recover. Ross Lyon’s astute use of pressure to contain the situation once they had asserted their grip on the game, and Melbourne’s self-destructive wastefulness, assured that outcome. The old adage about the insanity of repeatedly doing something and expecting a different result, was out there. Two years ago, the score line in Melbourne’s loss to the Giants at this same ground was 5 goals 15 behinds - a ratio of one goal per four scoring shots - was perfectly replicated with yesterday’s 7 goals 21 behinds.
This has been going on for a while and opens up a number of questions. I’ll put forward a few that come to mind from this performance. The obvious first question is whether the club can find a suitable coach to instruct players on proper kicking techniques or is this a skill that can no longer be developed at this stage of the development of our playing group? Another concern is the team's ability to counter an opponent's dominance during a run on as exemplified by the Saints in the first quarter. Did the Demons underestimate their opponents, considering St Kilda's goals during this period were scored by relatively unknown forwards? Furthermore, given the modest attendance of 6,721 at TIO Traeger Park and the team's poor past performances at this venue, is it prudent to prioritize financial gain over potentially sacrificing valuable premiership points by relinquishing home ground advantage, notwithstanding the cultural significance of the team's connection to the Red Centre?
