DeezNuts 624 Posted May 7, 2018 Posted May 7, 2018 (edited) Ok, so we saw Gus play his best game ever whilst largely watching an average game from Trac. What I saw from Gus: - many second efforts and continuous pressure - beautiful awareness around Gawns taps - calm in the storm when being contested - penetrating and accurate i50’s - a great tank of fuel What I’ve seen from Trac: - unassailable ability to hold ground when contested - aerial superiority - moderate tank Put the last two seasons behind, but I’m getting the sense that Gus is more developed or well-rounded than the Trac.. So glad he’s over the concussions, couldn’t be more happier for the lad after that game!!! Thoughts? Edited May 10, 2018 by Grapeviney 3 Quote
Fork 'em 7,052 Posted May 7, 2018 Posted May 7, 2018 (edited) The way he come out firing during his 1st season it was plain to see Brayshaw was going to be a gun. Hit a few road bumps over the next couple years mainly due to his raw courage and is now starting to find the rhythm again. Petracca just needs to improve the tank and find more ball. What 18,810 Posted May 7, 2018 Posted May 7, 2018 Our drafting from the 2012 draft onward has been superb. The only pick we really blew was Toumpas at pick 4 in 2012. Anyone know which draft was Jason Taylors first with the MFC? Quote

Goffer 256 Posted May 7, 2018 Posted May 7, 2018 Gus should be up there with T & O Mac as priority 1s to re-sign. He’s a gem of an inside midfielder, Chunk’s natural replacement and more naturally talented to boot (with all due respect to Jonesy who’s a club legend and was our heart and soul in the dark years). 4 Quote
Rod Grinter Riot Squad 5,681 Posted May 7, 2018 Posted May 7, 2018 Both have huge upside, Gus needs to keep his head out of danger, potential gun, Tracc needs to put down his dogs (just kidding - sort of ) learn to kick at goal, but I am a huge fan of Clarrie and think he can be one of the best players in the league, but Tracc can be better (Gus as much as I love him won’t). 1 Quote
Watts the matter 1,235 Posted May 7, 2018 Posted May 7, 2018 I think this thread is a gross over reaction to a long awaited impressive game from Brayshaw. Trac has the attributes to be the best player in the comp at one stage, Brayshaw doesn't. I was encouraged by Brayshaw's performance on the weekend, but I'm going to need to see it against some better opposition before I get on the bandwagon with everyone else. For me, his kicking is always going to hold him back. I think some of your observations are off the mark also. 44 minutes ago, DeezNuts said: Ok, so we saw Gus play his best game ever whilst largely watching an average game from Trac. There is a reason Petracca is the 3rd rated small/medium forward on the AFL player ratings behind only Greene and Betts. He is elite at what he does. 2 Quote
MurDoc516 1,529 Posted May 7, 2018 Posted May 7, 2018 Brayshaw may be more all rounded but i don't think he has the highs of Petracca 6 Quote
Gorgoroth 13,220 Posted May 7, 2018 Posted May 7, 2018 Tracs ceiling is... well, there is none. Gus will be a good bloody solid mid. 3 Quote

SFebes 4,884 Posted May 7, 2018 Posted May 7, 2018 Petracca has more upside I think, but up to him to push himself mentally and physically. It is great to see Brayshaw find form, could have been touch and go if he got another concussion. Petracca seems a little stuck in second gear but I’m excitingly waiting for him to tear the comp apart like we all hope, fingers crossed he doesn’t go all Colin on us. Needs and wants more midfield time. Both still kids with exciting futures. 1 Quote

He certainly has all the tricks, would love to see a Zorko type game this year to drool over. He’s so strong around the hips and clean. I wonder why he’s not thrown in the midfield more often? I suppose we were a bit stuck without Weid and TMac previously Quote
jacey 333 Posted May 7, 2018 Posted May 7, 2018 Disagree. Trac is very good forward. So dangerous that he spends more time there. Like danger n Martin, Will explode when his tank increases when they move to the middle fulltime. Angus looks like a pure midfielder. Isn't as effective as hb or hf so not as rounded as Trac 3 Quote
jackaub 1,402 Posted May 7, 2018 Posted May 7, 2018 Needs to want it more and second gear is a great description Work work work push push push Really interesting point in his career It could go either way Ie only has or thinks he only has second gear Or he finds out how to thrash the gearbox and finds over drive Is as much a mental / personality trait as anything Here's hoping one thing for sure we should find out this year Could be a great and daring player here's hoping 1 Quote
Wizza 170 Posted May 7, 2018 Posted May 7, 2018 Another Difference between the two is Gus can nail set shots. Until Trac can be consistent in that department he'll always remain just a good footballer. 2 2 Quote
jackaub 1,402 Posted May 7, 2018 Posted May 7, 2018 Yes Wiz Very unreliable in front needs along with a few others needs to practise Generally poor kicking for goal across a lot of teams and players I wonder why ? Perhaps young boys don't sleep with their footy any more. Quote
Salems Lot 2,692 Posted May 7, 2018 Posted May 7, 2018 Just a side note; I am thrilled that our first 2 draft picks in the 2017 draft are playing already and playing well. Taylor is one of our most important signings in the past 10 years 3 Quote

demon-4-life 467 Posted May 7, 2018 Posted May 7, 2018 Love em both. Both have seen tough times and had to overcome them (Tracc - ACL, Gus - Concussion) Both were made to earn their spots when returning from injuries, especially Tracc with his broken toe. I'd tend to agree with most of the posts here. But in fairness to the OP, I'd say Gus probably does most/all things well. Tracc does a lot of things well and some things extraordinarily. As pointed out, Tracc's penetrating kick is unbelievable, especially when doing I50s. Gus set shots and shots on goal on the run and kicking both sides of the body I'd take over Tracc. Either way...THEY'RE DEES!!!! Let's hope Gus re-signs ASAP Quote
ProperDee 1,698 Posted May 7, 2018 Posted May 7, 2018 One needs to get his ego in check and play 100 minutes of football. Brayshaw is doing everything right. 2 1 Quote
