Interesting that it was at the low end of the penalty spectrum requested by the AFL.

Cynicism prevents me from delving further

They didnt want Melbourne punished for something we had no hand in?

Would someone be so kind as to provide me with any evidence or sources that he will play for us next year? The comments seemed to have been started awhile back and are now being parroted as fact like it's a done deal by almost everyone. Including me at times.

I reckon Gaff and/or Methcoast should bear financial responsibility for the many years of dental work to follow - could easily be more than $100,000 for implants and the like.

It'll be covered by Freo as it's a workplace injury.

Whether Freo goes after the Eagles could be interesting.. there would of course be insurers involved and it may well be the same insurer but even then due to reinsurers etc you might still see a case.

At 100k though my guess is that it wouldn't really be worth pursuing.

Going after Gaff would be highly unusual in a workplace environment.

Have a think guys and gals.... even if he hugs the Brayshaw family I think he will upon further reflection go to a non Brayshaw club just to save everyone the uncomfortable nature of being team mates.

The old clean slate theory. North may get their star after all.

Maybe you should have a think....

He will not go or stay at a club based upon a where the Brayshaws play. These guys are professionals. They'll have a coffee or a beer together and work past it. Nate Jones said as much today.

Gaff may go to Norf, but it won't be based upon avoiding the Brayshaw brothers.

Titus is good.

@Big Demon is bad.

2 weeks? Roundhouse off the ball that was hard enough to cause ‘unviable’ teeth... Go watch UFC.

No idea how Titeass is pal but WTF are you on saying Big Demon is a bad guy? Just a reminder this is a contact sport and if a genuinely tough guy like Cunnington can liver punch Bernie and get just a fine Gaff with a mild jab could have almost completely got off. So many fans here turn a blind eye when our own get hit but I don’t.

You have an interesting take on the dynamics of the modern workplace MS but let's wait and see

Those are the kind of punches that can kill people. 8 weeks is nothing compared to what Brayshaw is going through.

Imagine if he clocked him in the temple. Potentially lethal.

Check out Mickey's link below my last post above. Andrew Brayshaw's dad even wants Gaff to be forgiven.

If Gaff comes to MFC, he will work it out amicably with Gus and his brothers.

No one dies from being hit in the temple. Most one punch victims hit their head on concrete and because they are unconscious they don’t brace for the impact.

Did you listen to Gus on the AFL exchange. He was [censored] and rightfully so. I would expect there would be a fair few issues that need to be worked through if mfc was to offer Gaff a contract

8 weeks.

Got off lightly, considering he executed a solid fist to the face of an innocent opponent and then kept running

brayshaw will still be in recovery long after that.

[censored] Weak as usual AFL, but after Barry Hall was cleared to play in the 2005 GF, i expect nothing from the Tribunal

Oh yes they do, if the connection is right at the point of the temple.

It is THE weak point.

Totally agree. I don't know why there are people who think Gaff is straight to Melbourne, like what he did means nothing. Gus and his family have to come first.

My son was coward punched. Hit a hard floor. Knocked unconscious. Chipped teeth, broken nose, face cut/swollen. Thankfully no permanent brain damage.

The Gaff punch wasn't a coward punch at least. Brayshaw was facing him.

The comments that Gaff could face gaol time if charged are clueless. First time offenders NEVER get gaol time.

Nothing solid. Just the usual media linking an uncontracted ex-Victorian interstate player with a few Melbourne based clubs with "room" in the cap. We're one of those clubs. As usual a lot of wishful thinking on here that he is a shoe in to come to us. North, Saints & Blues also a chance.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
