Gaff was a Dees supporter growing up, what is he going to say, but have we actually enquired

Notice the sudden reappearance of the Hogan article, nobody has mentioned it, to shut down any linking talk

I asked Josh Mahoney a couple of weeks ago, don't have to hide my source, of course he said we are interested in Gaff, like any player

Think they are more interested in getting McDonald x 2, Jetta and Brayshaw tied in first

personally I love this kind of stuff. Jusr remember that If you reveal that source  it will printed in the Sun the next day..

I have a doubt about it though. Mainly because  he's in a premiership contending  team right now AND  if he wins one with the eagles wouldnt it make more sense to him to be chasing $ rather than flags?. Can see him going to the saints if the eagles win this year.

If he wins a flag this year, he has to ask himself what is the probability of the Weagles going back to back, especially considering Demon trajectory.

On the balance of Pr, I would pull the escape pod and head to Demonland to win 2 in a row

For those that might not be able to read it - that article is a joke.  Nowhere does it actually say that the Eagles are interested in Gus, more that it wonders if the Eagles will chase him as 'revenge' for us chasing Gaff.  There is absolutely nothing to suggest he wants out, no quotes from managers or coaches or anything resembling something new.  It's a headline purely for there for clicks.

Thanks @Wiseblood, @Demonland time to get a vomit button...

If you listen to Angus on a recent MFC podcast there's near zero chance of him leaving.

Yep.

The link they make with the Eagles is the fact one of his brothers plays there.  It's thin at best.

If they get a Demon midfielder it will be Tyson.

I don't think Tyson would leave Melbourne the city. Far more likely to go somewhere like St Kilda or Carlton.

That being said, I don't think he's leaving Melbourne the club either

I think saints might have a crack at Tyson he would fit into there game plan perfectly

He is the type of player we need however he is arguably the softest player in the league.

Wouldn't want to go all out for him IMO.

You are contradicting yourself

We do not need any soft players, regardless of their upside.  We showed that last trade period.

He will if he doesn't have a choice a la Jack Watts.

It'll cost them.

Kind of reaffirms my stance on his article - Jay Clark is connecting dots that simply aren't there yet.  All the chatter has been about us having the room and that we've looked long term for some time now to ensure we have the space to sign our players and add others.  Seems like he's seen one Brayshaw at the Eagles, looked at the potential of Gaff leaving with Melbourne being interested and gone from there.

Nothing in it.

Fixed.

Clickbaiting bastards

The Dees will win this year G.F,followed by the next 5. I see a 50's domination all over again. Young talented kids will be "dying" to get into our side.

Let's not over-speculate; it pushes up the price of recruiting astronomically.

If Gaff wants to be a Dee, it is up to him to show it with subtle resolve; if we want him, we could come together with Gaff to support this arrangement/outcome.

With an environment of varied form and injury risks remaining ever-present, any good price is enough if the player wants to occupy a position in an emerging superteam.

It does not need to be the highest price - if that is all Gaff wants, then we really don't need him.

If he is a fair dinkum bloke, and everything points towards that being the case, he will be a Demon on these terms in 2019 and from that, will be much appreciated in a continuous appearance in coming grand finals for the Dees.

And his other brother plays with the other team in Perth.

  • AFLW REPORT: Gold Coast

The forecast said wind. The ladder said mismatch. The scoreboard said obliteration. Melbourne didn’t just beat Gold Coast — they dismantled them: 13.15 (93) to 0.6 (6). An 87-point obliteration, the Suns held goalless, and the Demons delivering their second-highest winning margin and third-highest score in AFLW history.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #28 Will Verrall

It was a tough ask for him to break through as a 199cm ruckman in the shadow of an all-time great in that position who is also the club captain. He had some good days at Casey but was unable to progress and was delisted at the end of the season.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #29 Tom Campbell

The 33-year-old Campbell has yet to play AFL football for Melbourne, but his Casey form has been strong and he has been retained as a ready-made ruck depth option who is widely regarded as someone who is excellent for the culture of the club.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #30 Harry Sharp

The Demons acquired an interesting player in Sharp, who narrowly missed securing a spot in the Lions’ premiership team last year. The 22-year-old medium forward played in the opening round this season and ended up with 18 senior games, although he was substituted in or out in for ten of those matches. He demonstrated glimpses of form, but ultimately ended the year on the margins of the team.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #31 Bayley Fritsch

Worked his way back after a slow start and a further slump in form going into the midseason but became a solid contributor for the club in the latter half of 2025. Closing in on 300 goals for the club.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Gold Coast

On Friday, the Demons return to our Casey Fields fortress where they have a 77% win rate. The scent of September is in the air and the struggling Suns are on the horizon. The Cranbourne weather forecast? Ominous, like the match itself: a strong chance of carnage. Let’s be honest, last week’s first half against the West Coast was a training drill but we dropped our guard in the final quarter. While this match is a mismatch on paper — second versus seventeenth — football is won in the wind, the contests, and the moments.
