Round 7 Non MFC games

Recommended Posts

Commentators on radio just described the Essendon-Hawks scoreline (Essendon now 23 behind) as "respectable but it's still sort of not".

This is sweet sweet fruit - teams repeatedly not respecting Essendon to the point of taking their foot off the pedal, all while giving Essendon an illusion of competitiveness to the superficial look back on the season.

May they rot slowly and all over.

From Bomberblitz.... I get a wonderful warm feeling from this post:

Neeld’s strategy.

“Of seven defensive 50 chains in the second term, the Bombers have not converted any to an inside 50”. This.

Our lack of forward pressure and inability to trap the ball inside our fwd 50 and score from forward stoppages (Caracella blueprint) is a massive concern for mine.

At this time they are only down by one goal

I suppose that playing on Mars (Nth Ballarat) is better than Darwin but it's a strange move by Footscray.

Anybody have an idea of the financials??

My mate, a Bulldogs member, filthy that his ticket didn't gain him entry to Mars. It appears that the only supporters who didn't have to pay at the gate were Bulldog supporters who purchased 2-game membership 'packages'. To be entitled to get those you had to reside in particular towns within a 10 km radius of Ballarat.

No, but its good for Ballarat. Big day up here. The town is very much behind the Bulldogs.

The druggies are very very ship, Joe still can't kick for goal  even with no pressure, the league has gone backwards this year..

We've been hearing the strange roaring noise for a while but this seems to be the year where we're going over the waterfall.

I saw Dangerfield last night, from not far out from goal, kick a banana on his preferred foot because he was on the near side, ie, the angle didn't suit his non preferred foot.

This is a star of the game, supposedly one of the current gems.

The same ilk of star of yesteryear, eg Robbie, Greg Williams, Garry Wilson, Daicos, Buckley, Black ... would have slotted it or at least taken the kick no probs, on their non preferred because the angle and flight of the ball suited it better.

But no ...  the modern star of the game won't risk it because he doesn't trust his skill.

We routinely see guys from 30 out or closer stand sideways and kick a banana because a STRAIGHT KICK is too hard???

Aint it beautiful to see the dons ship aflame and  sinking.  A loss to the blues next week will be  most excellent. Might have to crack open one of my vintage ports to celebrate.

Lol I tipped bombers I thought they would be fired up, got sucked in big time

Don’t feel too bad, I had a small multi containing the bulldogs, I cashed it out losing a qtr of my initial wager fearing I could lose the lot.

Port look like absolute rubbish. They play dumb handball at any cost far too often. Recruiting Motlop and Watts starting to show.

9 Eagle free kicks to 3, no wonder they're so hard to beat in Perth

Why can’t teams play in Perth?  The WCE have a dream draw so far!  When do they play outside the border of WA!  I cannot Believe where they sit on the ladder, simply not that good a team.  More road travel in weeks to come may sort them out.  As for other teams playing in Perth,  the ground is new, so no excuses!

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w
