I have seen the down side of Pokey addiction up close and personnel and I would love nothing more than to see the "banning" of all Pokies in our fair state.

Yet another example of a small minority of people not wanting to take responsibility for their actions and hence the majority who do the right thing and have some self control suffer.

Perhaps the AFL could give up on the jolly for Port to China and the AFLX to Hongkers.

Would go a long way to making up the short fall across the clubs.

Next challenge is to get off the "teat" of the sports betting agencies.

Didn't the club go back into debt to finance the purchase of the Pokie licences.  Hope the sale has covered our debt

All well and good but reminds me of that idiot that shut down power stations BEFORE an alternative was in place !!

Need to get this right or bottom line will be shredded. Still...the club seems to have a better handle on the register these days. Hope this goes well.

Not quite so clear cut on reading the email. The Leighoak deal is not done until 31 July and the Bentleigh Cub runs out in August 2022.

So still a few coins to rattle in the tray yet.

As ought there be. Get the order of events right. Still a good result in end.

As DrDrake mentions, these will be assets that are sold off, if it means clearing down some debt, or investing money into other ventures that can make the club money then thats the key here. Those numbers are misleading as all they do is say how much of our profit comes from gaming revenue. Can't just say now we don't have pokies therefore we don't have a revenue source.

What the club does with the profits from selling these two assets will be the key.

pre-emptive move - all clubs are preparing for the afl stopping clubs owning pokies licenses, whilst at the same time taking in excess of $10m from crownbet to be official wagering partner, plus all the residuals from the other gambling companies

Please, what benefit to society do pokies bring?

Jackson is a very smart operator as we know. I am 100% sure that he already has some revenue supplements lined up to replace pokies.

There will be more sponsorship opportunities as a result, from “socially responsible” companies who wouldn’t sponsor clubs at the moment due to their involvement in gambling.

Good on the club.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
